The National Institute of Standards and Technology is kicking this off with a press conference you can read about at http://www.nist.gov/public_affairs/calmed/wtc917_briefing.htm The NIST now states the project and objective like this: "This is an ambitious undertaking and will need the active participation of WTC survivors, first responders to the disaster and family members of WTC victims in order to be successful.

NIST’s field data collection project is different from—but complements and is being coordinated
with—other studies also collecting and analyzing first-person accounts. It is designed to provide the information and materials critical to reaching the overall goal of the NIST WTC investigation: improvements in the way people design, construct, maintain and use buildings, especially high rises."

I notice that they have stopped even claiming to be looking for an explanation for the disintigration and collapse of the buildings. They were supposed to be the ones who had a government to come up with a better explanation than FEMA. But they seem to be giving up.

All their research results in that direction seemed to be negative. Their scientists said we can't blame the collapse on the quality of steel used, fireproofing, truss design.... BUT AT LEAST IT WAS BIG OF THEM TO ADMIT THAT.

I believe that there should be some changes in the "maintenance and use" of buildings if "maintenance" involves installing a large number of bombs under the guise of "remodeling". I don't want to use any building that can't give me better maintenance than that. But do you think the NIST will ever get to these obvious conclusions?
