This analysis is quite remarkable, and not completely without merit. I think, as a method of analysis, and as a conceptual model, it is underdeveloped theoretically. One of the main reasons for this is that it is a model of analysis that was oft used to justify racism and colonialism. However, to justify racism and colonialism solely on the basis of Spengler is ridiculous; Spengler says that colonialism and imperialism are signs that a culture-organism is ending its life, not beginning it. He says it is inevitable, so he makes no prescription about it, but one would assume that its inevitability does not make it necessarily desirable, right, or good. Inevitably you and I will both die, but that does not automatically make us cheerleaders for death.

What Yockey does, writing under the name "Ulick Varange", is develop Spengler's theory into a justification of Imperium, and combine it with some much neglected research on the cultural origins of various people and civilizations. Yockey's thesis is that all the great cultures -- Egypt, China, Islam, India, Greco-Roman ("Classical"), Meso-American, and Western -- were great because they were founded by members of the Aryan racial stock. He argues that as the Aryan racial stock present in these cultures declined, the cultures too declined, until they were left back in the barbarity we find many of these cultures today.

Yockey's argument is not without basis, but how much basis is uncertain, since the US government and other Western governments deliberately ban research into certain areas of anthropology. For example, those who are familiar with such things know that the US government recently dumped several hundred tons of rock onto an archaeological sight in the Northwest where a skeleton was found that appears to prove that the "Indians" of North America were not native to this continent, but the descendants of pre-historic white settlers. There have also been buildings and temples found in Meso-America that appear to display Roman or Greek characteristics. Archaeologists have found in places such as Wisconsin ancient tablets written in a language that can only be Old Norse runes.

It is also known that every culture Yockey names, including India, China, and the rest, were ruled for a long period by a lighter-skinned variant of their people that legend holds to have originated from Central Asia -- the alleged birthplace of the "Aryan" or "Indo-European" peoples. Sanskrit, Latin, Greek and German are all known to have the same cultural root. And so on. There is much evidence to argue that some original Indo-European people, "Aryans", "Caucasians", or whatever you want to call them, have played a role in most, if not all, of the great cultures of the world.

However, it is forbidden in modern society to research such things, to argue such things, or even to mention such theories, as doing so automatically implies one is a "racist". I don't personally hate anybody, or think anyone to be superior by virtue of the color of their skin, but I do not think that research into race and culture and the history of both should be banned because some liberal or some government bureaucrat somewhere finds it offensive. I also think that such questions about race and culture will linger, and cause people to embrace things like National Socialism, until someone can give a definite answer, impartial, and not motivated by need to promote ideology.

But back to Yockey. Yockey argued that the Aryan is the root of all culture. That while each culture developed with a different flavor based on the people the Aryan mixed with, that the basics of each culture -- writing, engineering, and the other foundations of culture and science -- originated in a common Aryan root.

Yockey then develops Spengler's culture analysis from this perspective. Regardless of what you think of his racial theories, he does make a valuable contribution to culture-organism analysis, and elaborates on several notions originally put forward by Spengler. It is because of this development of Spengler's thesis into a full fledged method of analysis that one must respect this book, even if you think the perspective that analysis is applied from is wrong.

To Yockey, Adolf Hitler, referred to as "the Hero", and National Socialism do not represent the death of Western culture, and they do to Spengler. Instead, they represent its rebirth. Ironically, application of Spengler's analysis would argue that of course they represent a rebirth to men like Yockey, who by virtue of the period in which they live are bound to see death as rebirth. But for Yockey, Hitler represents a move away from the cultural disease of Bolshevism, and a move towards a rejuvenation of the Western life source.

Yockey doesn't talk much about Jews as such until the second volume of his original work (the later pages of the one volume edition). He also doesn't talk much about Jews directly. To Yockey, just as there is a culture organism, there are cultural diseases, spread by cultural parasites If those parasites spread disease, and the disease becomes too severe, the culture-organism dies. Yockey sees socialism as a disease. He sees jews as the parasites. Despite what you think about his racial theories, and I disagree, his analysis of cultural parasitism and cultural distortion is an excellent and apt one. Even though I don't think Jews, as a whole, are sucking the blood of our culture, I think there is a class of international multi-racial/ethnic/cultural elite that are sucking the blood of working people, and engaging in the type of parasitism and distortion that Mr Yockey thinks is practiced only by Jews.

As I've said, it is in his method and theoretical development, and not his perspective, that Mr Yockey's contribution to human knowledge lies.

Yockey sees Bolshevik socialism as a cultural disease that is anathema to the culture-spirit or culture-soul (kulturgeist? -- hehe) that defines the West. He sees the practitioners of international Bolshevik-socialism, which he sees as synonymous with the practitioners of international capitalism, as sucking on the blood of the Western people, exploiting their wealth, and distorting their culture so as to destroy their historical roots and replacing them with a feeling of alienation, and an identification with an alien cultural-soul. Insofar as his argument can be limited to that assertion, it is probably not wrong. There is no question that people who shape and control our culture are people who have a cultural perspective that is absolutely alien and divorced from the cultural soul of the average American person, regardless of race, color or ethnicity. The ruling class and their cultural machine have been systematically destroying the American culture of liberty and attempting to replace it with an identification with this culture of tyranny. There are few who can argue that. It's the necessity of the racial element that is disputed.

Yockey sees Bolshevism as synonymous with Judaism, and an expression of the Judaic culture-soul, which he sees as a purely destructive and negative force. Yet he saw Russian communism -- meaning the Communism after the Stalinist purges of Jews from the CP-USSR -- as being a manifestation of a fledgling Slavic soul, and therefore not evil or of necessity opposed to the American people or the Western culture soul. He distinguishes Jewish Bolshevism from the Russian Communism that followed it. I don't know if that distinction is valid, but there's enough discussion in that for a whole other piece.

Yockey's conclusion is that the West is destined to enact a glorious Imperium. Because Yockey believes that all culture originates in the Aryan, he also believes all culture ends in the Aryan. Yockey, in contrast to Spengler, sees all culture as a manifestation of a single Aryan soul, colored (if you'll excuse the pun) by the local people, while Spengler sees each culture as the manifestation of a unique soul. This difference leads Yockey to revel in Imperium, while Spengler sees Imperium as a final stage and a decay.

The first stage of Yockey's Imperium will be the unity of Western and Northern Europe with America, and the expulsion of non-white peoples and Jews. The second stage will be world conquest and the thousand-year Reich, with all people united under and in service to their Aryan masters. It is here that Yockey falls down. As Spengler notes, correctly, such Imperial fantasies are only that -- fantasies -- and they always lead to a collapse back to barbarism.

Personally, I don't see an Imperium being created under a National Socialist culture that Yockey envisions. I see the irony in the creation of a European-American Imperium united under the Clinton-crats -- the actual real Imperium we see forming today -- and I see that Imperium as the final step in the death of everything America and Western Europe once stood for -- in the death of liberty -- in the death of our real culture soul.
