"In November 2001, Italian secret service agents were approached by a West African diplomat. He said he had details of a plot by the Iraqis to buy 'hundreds of tons' of uranium ore from Niger. He produced supporting documents."

The timing is significant, falling on the heels of post-911 administration attempts to connect dots to Iraq.

"West African diplomat" begs the question. What country of origin?

We aren't even sure that he was, in fact, an African. The term "West African diplomat" could very well mean someone currently stationed there.

As pointed out in an earlier post hypothesis pointing to an Iraqi opposition plot, the forgeries were unlikely to have been produced by anyone familliar with the history of Nigerian governance.

There are holes in the holes to the whole story, and a very murky provenance.
