The huge underground bunkers are there, under part of McDill, and with a little effort on the Internet you can check this as even in such as NYTimes. In fact there was a controversy after we entered Afganistan that the US didn't even have a field grade officer on the ground for an inordinate period of time. Everything was run from that bunker complex. But the tone of the short post given was one of disruption, not real dailogue.
