The Celtic Minds Appraisal of Colonialism

How the Older Cultures observe the continued march of Colonialism

As you watch the events being reported on television, or in the
media, it appears to be the reporting of modern events by a
modern society. When in fact it is still a medieval thought
process at work. Nothing modern, and nothing new is happening.
The whole process today is the process of yesterday. So, one has
basically medieval people using electronic devices to communicate
and view reports from around the world, but what is inside the
brain has not changed. Perhaps for this reason Krishnamurti
pointed out in one of his last Talks: "The outer world has
changed, advanced electronically, but the mind has remained as
primitive as it was in the past. The Roman Empire still exists
today. You are the Romans."

One may wonder what he meant by that. It seems absurd. Until you
look at the unfolding of events as they take place in the world
at large. The same colonists who destroyed the Celtic nations, as
they did every other ancient culture, are active today. When the
Colonists totally destoryed the Celtic way of life in Scotland,
Ireland and in Wales. They called us "Barbarians". When they
destroyed the Breton culture, and the Cathars, the Mayan and the
Native American. They called them all Barbarians. When they took
over Africa and colonised the many Islands, when they colonised
India and the Arabian continent. They called them Barbarians.

On your modern day televisions, perhaps you miss seeing or
understanding the same portrayal of Afganistan, or the regime in
Iraq as Barbaric. The regime in Cuba is Barbaric. The regime in
Iran is Barbaric. The regime in Syria is Barbaric. In Israel the
way they behave is not Barbaric. The Israeli culture is moden and
civilised like the United States. The Celtic mind in appraising
all this would consider that each of these apparently Barbaric
cultures already exist for many thousands of years. While the
modern civilised cultures have within 100 years polluted,
destroyed, and greatly depleted the resources of the Earth.

In appraising the behaviour of the modern civilised countries it
would seem that the same mind that conquered the Incas is now
sitting inside powerful fighter jets, long range bombers,
aircraft carriers and tanks . . . but it is the same medieval
thought process using the most modern electronic gagetry to kill.
If you consider historically what gave the civilised regions
control over the rest of the world. It was the invention of the
gun. That is the only factor that gave them the advantage. Brute
force gunpowder, and it is still the same today.

The invention of the gun finished off the Scots, as it finished
the Irish and the Welsh. The Incas did not stand a chance, nor
did the Native Americans. Nor did the Iraqi's. Having already
colonised the Middle East, and then having had to leave. Is it
really going to be any different now, than it was in the past? If
you consider the successful colonisation of South America, or the
United States. Thousands upon thousands of people had to move to
those areas and actually live there. They literally took over. If
thousands of US citizens do not move to live in Iraq, in Iran,
Afganistan and Syria, how can any long term control of these
areas be achieved?

So, if you imagine - as you watch the latest news report - that
we are doing something different than was done by our ancestors.
Think again! As you view the events within a historical
perspective, it becomes clear that this whole exercise is a total
waste of time and resources, and lives. Because unless the people
of America physically move in and take over the Middle East - as
they did when they colonised the Native American homelands.
Staying in Iraq and putting all the Arabs into reservations.
Nothing will change there. No systems change is going to stop the
people there being followers of Islam, or the Sufi religion, or
any other Arabic tradition. Now the way the Arabs think and act
cannot be conveniently fitted into a modern style 'democracy'.
Because they, like the Celts and the Mayan's and the rest of us -
think differently.

The question of a long term military occupation in this area
creates the question: Who will pay for it? The early Celtic
society was communal. The civilised colonists considered us
Barbaric because the leader of the community owned nothing. He
was the overseer of the communites wealth, he was there to serve
the community - and not the other way around. Everything he had
came from the community: his home, his food, his clothing.
Decisions were taken through open discussion within the
community. The leader was a strategist who was there to advise
the people and lead them to the best decisions. The people of
this Celtic community would want to know who pays for this kind
of verture, what will be gained and what will be lost? Taxes did
not exist. Taxation came through colonisation. The Arabs will now
"indirectly" pay taxes to the Americal system. Just as the
Mayan's were forced to pay Taxes to Spain once they became a
Colony. So nothing has changed really, other than that the
gunpowder makes a bigger bang than it did during the Goldrush.
