You must read the definitions I copied in the prior post -- from Merriam-Webster.

Your friends were immersed in something specific -- occult Satanism. And it certainly does exist; it's real.

But it is still a misuse of the word "occult" to equate it with "Satanist". The word alone does not mean that, except through modern convention, often driven by agenda.

Example: the US is actually run by an (secret) government. A portion of that occult government is truly Lufiferian. Other portions are not.

Again, let me make clear that I'm not defending cults (of which there are many, and not a few within the various religions, including "Christianity") or the Harry Potter books.
