He said he was approached by an FBI agent in 1994 and shown pictures of him posing with known republicans."He asked me if I would be interested in working with the FBI in supplying information on those particular individuals and the relationship they had with the US."Rupert said he hesitated at first, but then agreed to become an informant."From my moral teachings I found it morally acceptable to do."Secondly, I like to come here and he was offering to [pay] for my trips.Until then, Rupert's frequent trips to Ireland had been for purely social reasons."I liked to come here to unwind from the stress of the job I was doing," Rupert told Dublin's heavily guarded Special Criminals Court. After winning the confidence of the dissident republican group, he posed as the Real IRA's chief fundraiser in the US.Only one person has so far been convicted in connection with the Omagh bombing.Builder Colm Murphy, who lent a cellphone to the alleged bombers, is serving a 14-year prison sentence for conspiring to cause the explosion.McKevitt's trial is expected to last about six weeks.- REUTERS ---------------------------THE HAL TURNER SHOW....YOUR EARS WILL BURN! http://www.halturnershow.com/ListenLive.html John Davison Rockefeller I, born 1839-July-18, died 1937-May-23 http://www.mega.nu:8080/ampp/ SUPREME COURT Justices' Affirmative Action Opinions Vary http://news.findlaw.com/ap/a/w/1154/6-24-2003/20030624033005_23.html Libraries Told to Follow Anti-Porn Law http://news.findlaw.com/ap/a/w/1154/6-24-2003/20030624070010_02.html POLITICS Bush Talks Terror War at NYC Fund-Raiser http://news.findlaw.com/ap/a/w/1151/6-24-2003/20030624023003_07.html Senate Panel Seeks Change on Judicial Nominees http://news.findlaw.com/politics/s/20030624/congressjudgesdc.html CIVIL RIGHTS Michigan Ruling May Mean More Work for Colleges http://news.findlaw.com/news/s/20030624/courtracedc.html Businesses Hail Affirmative Action Ruling http://news.findlaw.com/ap/f/1310/6-24-2003/20030624053001_04.html PERSONAL INJURY Source: New Jersey Child Welfare Suit Settled http://news.findlaw.com/ap/o/1110/6-24-2003/20030624021504_12.html Man Hopes Green Light Will Stop Road Rage http://news.findlaw.com/ap/o/1110/6-24-2003/20030624073004_04.html PRODUCT LIABILITY Effort Planned to Block Counterfeit Drugs http://news.findlaw.com/ap/o/1500/6-24-2003/20030624113007_14.html GM Recalls About 254,000 Saturn Cars http://news.findlaw.com/ap/f/1310/6-24-2003/20030624061511_12.html MICROSOFT Microsoft Corp.
