The underlining is in the original, and the point that is impossible for me, or anyone, to overemphasize is the fact stated here, which, when translated into a different context, means that if you are waiting on the "popular" understanding, and thus, the "popular" vote, in order to do what is the Right thing to do, then you will die before you'll realize THAT result:

"As the word masses is commonly used, it suggests agglomerations of poor and underprivileged people, laboring people, proletarians, but it means nothing like that -- it means simply the majority. The mass-man is one who has neither the force of intellect to apprehend the principles issuing in what we know as the humane life, nor the force of character to adhere to those principles steadily and strictly as laws of conduct; and because such people make up the great and overwhelming majority of mankind, they are called collectively the masses. The line of differentiation between the masses and the Remnant is set invariably by quality, not by circumstance. The Remnant are those who by force of intellect are able to apprehend these principles, and by force of character are able, at least measurably, to cleave to them. The masses are those who are unable to do [either]." The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor, 2 (March, 2003).

Understanding WHY the masses are always wrong is great. Understanding THAT the masses are always wrong is essential for competent decision-making, especially as times turn worse. Rebellion against God produces "out of bounds markers," i.e., the Four Horsemen: wars, famines, pestilence/disease and "beasts" (kings, or governments, raised up by God to be an iron rod of correction in His hand, which is exactly what the "federal government" is).

Thus, while what your neighbor does will matter, it's ultimately an inconsequential influence on what we do, individually.

Our "solutions" are simply not with "man," or with the "government of man," or with the "law of man." Our solutions are with God, the government of God and with the Law of God. Given that the "popular vote" has ALWAYS been to return to Egypt, we're suitably put on notice that the "world" will hate those who are doing the Right thing.

(How ironic is it that IF we WERE doing the Right thing, we would be allowing God to bless our tithes and offerings, Malaki 3:5-12, rather than depending upon the "paper wealth financial markets of man" for increase in our wealth!?!)

It matters that we maintain sufficient understanding of Right and Wrong and character to act upon the Right. The Power of the Truth and of doing the Right thing is proven in the Resurrection.
