PART ONE....... Where is the Will of the People? Rev. Donna Carol Raifsnider, November 2000
I have been watching the current events with great anticipation and sadness. I sit and ponder on the election and wonder if the next innocent prisoner will be the Constitution for the United States of America.
Anyone that knows me knows I have a prison ministry. I actively pursue a remedy for Innocent Prisoners. If there is remedy for an Innocent Prisoner caught up in our judicial system, no one knows what it is. If you ask the courts they will tell you that you have the appeal process, but what kind of remedy is that if you have to sit in prison while appealing and if the record was tainted by the first judge who kept out anything that might prove your innocence?
I have watched trials and seen lawyers work feverishly to keep the truth out so they can score another win in their column for their "war on crime". Whether a person is innocent or guilty does not matter to some, maybe most, attorneys.I can't speak for all of them, only the one's I have observed.
I have worked for four years to find that elusive remedy for fifteen citizens in Missouri and Illinois and eight citizens in Texas. I went to Congress and carried the story, and was ignored. I did get to sit down and tell the story to one Congressman from Missouri who was very friendly but blunt. When we got down to the part about these Missouri citizens being innocent he said he had no jurisdiction. Then I asked him just what is a person to do if they are actually innocent and the judge and prosecuting attorney knew they were innocent when they convicted them.who are they to tell? This Congressman then spoke the truth. He said "Unfortunately, in America, the judge that incarcerated them is the only one that has jurisdiction." I was shocked. I then looked at him and commented that there was no remedy with the judge that is the culprit and that our judicial system has become one of justice based on skill rather than truth. The Congressman started to say something, then stopped and looked at me and said."Well, that is correct."
I never heard from this Congressman again, nor his aid who was supposed to be building a file on the case. But I have not given up, nor do I intend to ever give up. If good people do nothing, bad people rule and that is where I see America today. Too many of us sat on our goodness and bad got a foothold in our nation and now we have to dig in our heels and restrain it.
That brings me to the 2000 election. We have a rule of law for our elections. In that rule there is no justification for one candidate to beat another candidate by asking a judge to intervene because a few members of the populace was confused! If the judges hear these matters and intervene, then our great Constitution will become a hostage and prisoner of the judicial system and real tyranny will become law. And I sit here and ponder, will the Congress of the United States that does have jurisdiction in this election sit silently on their goodness and let evil prevail? I wonder.
Either way, I, Donna Carol Raifsnider, Minister for Jesus Christ, will continue to search for a way for truth to be heard and I pray that whoever reads this will make the same commitment and seek out those Congressmen that are obliged to listen to you, and tell them not to sit on their goodness, tell them to take jurisdiction where they have it, and let go where they don't.
Put your self interest aside and take notes of what the candidates and the attorneys for both sides are asking. Do they ask the courts to ignore the rule of law? Where is the People's will? In the Democrats, the Republicans, or the Constitution for the United States of America?
Let's put our house back in order again. This time I pray that the Rule of Law prevails over the rule of man. Let your Congressmen know. Don't sit on your goodness while our constitution is in danger of becoming imprisoned by the rule of one man, a judge. Where is the Will of the People? I wonder.
