Renewal/expansion of Patriot Act blocked by Senate! This is a first--a
stand against the "powers that be". However, much of the Patriot Act(s)
provision are already permanent, and they still have a chance before Dec.
31st to do some serious fear-mongering and arm twisting. Should we expect
another "attack" or "alert" prior to that date--that would force it thru? WATCH FOR SOME SERIOUS GAMES OVER THE HOLIDAYS, WHILE NO ONE IS WATCHING.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate on Friday refused to reauthorize major portions
of the USA Patriot Act after critics complained they infringed too much on
Americans' privacy and liberty, dealing a huge defeat to the Bush
administration and Republican leaders.
