You quote Jesus, on the one hand, and lead readers to assume certain things about what was said.

However if you look at the Gospel of Luke chapter 11, the place from which you have quoted, you will read:

"And as he [Jesus] said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him."
Luke, 11:53-54

And Jesus gave them nothing for which they could accuse him..

He did not let them provoke him.

And therein lies the scriptural lesson. It is enough to speak the truth. But it is important to maintain the demeanor of control and not be provoked into condemnation.
