Judge George Greer to receive the Gardner W. Beckett Jr. Civil
Liberties Award. Civil liberties alright, what ever happened the
inalienable right to Life? George Greer upon the insistence of
political crony George Felos conspired to murder Teri Schiavo last spring.
Just in case you aren't up on a few facts about the Judge Greer -
George Felos connection, I will explain.................
Michael Schiavo's mouthpiece George Felos, was all over the news
during Terri's two week battle to stay alive. It made me wonder what
kind of POS George Felos is. So I did some research on him. I have
found numerous articles on Felos, and a lot of controversy too. Enough
controversy to implicate criminal activity in the Shiavo case and more.
In March of 2000, Michael Shiavo and George Felos secretly transferred
Terri from the nursing home where she had been living to the Hospice
of Florida Suncoast at Woodside in Pinellas County. This transfer took
place without notice to the Schindler family. Felos also forgot to
mention to the court that he was the Chairman of the Board of
Directors at Suncoast. He also forgot to tell the court that the
federal government was trying to collect $14.8 million that was
unlawfully paid to Suncoast in Medicare payments.
Under federal law, in order to qualify for hospice care and Medicare
benefits, there must be a proper certification of terminal illness.
This certification must be signed by the Attending Physician and the
Medical Director of the Hospice. This certification must be
accompanied by a written statement that the beneficiary is terminally
ill based on medical evidence and is expected to live less than 6
months. Terri was transferred without this certification. And she
wasn't terminally ill until her feeding tube was withdrawn. And she
lived for 5 years inside that Hospice. Terri isn't an isolated incident.
Suncoast has been under federal investigation for unlawfully accepting
patients who were not terminally ill and accepting Medicare
reimbursements for them. During the investigation, it was established
that 176 patients were not eligible for Medicare payments. And were
unable to conclusively determine if 118 patients were terminally ill.
Medicare payments totaling $8.9 million were accepted for the 176
ineligible patients. And $5.9 million for the 118 who were not
terminally ill. And all during this time, George Felos was the
Chairman of the Board.
The plan to end Terri's life by withdrawing her feeding tube started
to take shape in May of 1997. It seems St. Petersburg judge Mark
Shames engaged in ex parte communications and failed to notify the
Schindlers that Michael Schiavo had given notice to Shames of his
intent to move Terri to a Hospice and have her feeding tube removed.
Michael's attorney at the time, Deborah Bushnell, informed Shames that
the Schindlers had to be notified about Michael's intent. In August of
1997, George Felos became lead counsel in the Schiavo case.
Once notified, the Schindlers initiated actions to stop the removal of
the feeding tube. In May 1998, Felos filed a petition to have the
feeding tube removed before 6th Circuit Court Judge Greer even though
the actions were currently being heard in St. Petersburg. Judge
shopping is what seems to have happened. Felos got the judge he wanted.
At the time, feeding tubes were not considered artificial life support
under Florida statutes. In April of 1999, House Bill 2131 was
introduced in the Florida House by the Elder Affairs and Long Term
Care Committee. George Felos was on the board of Suncoast with
Committee member Gus Bilikaris. Bilikaris is also a George Greer
campaign contributor. On October 1, 1999, the legal definition of life
prolonging procedures was amended to include, "including artificially
provided sustenance and hydration which sustains, restores, or
supplants a spontaneous vital function."
In April, 2000, without court approval, Terri was moved to Suncoast
without proper certification and without notification to the
Schindlers. The certification was signed by the medical director who
was employed by Felos who was the Chairman of the Board. The Attending
Physician refused to sign the certification, which is required by law.
Terri was transferred not on physician's order, but Michael's.
In 2002, Michael petitioned Judge Greer to put Terri on Medicaid. The
petition was granted. Despite the fact, that in 1992, money was
earmarked for Terri's care and over $1 million was granted to Michael.
So let's recap. Michael wanted Terri dead. He hired George "the lawyer
of death" Felos. Felos shopped around for the judge that he wanted. He
filed a petition to remove the feeding tube in his judge's court
(George Greer). Felos needed the law governing life prolonging
procedures redefined. He gets fellow board member Gus Bilikaris to
push it through the required committee which he served on. Bilikaris
is linked to Greer through campaign contributions. Michael is living
with and has children with another woman. DOES ANYONE SEE A PROBLEM HERE!
Not only did Michael Schiavo and George Felos conspire to kill Terri,
they used their influence over others to get it done. This is nothing
but pre-meditated murder. And insurance fraud.
So as a reward for his contribution for the right of a dirt bag to
murder his wife, George Greer gets a civil liberties award. What a
farce. This just goes to show you that innocent human life means
nothing to the ACLU and people like George Greer and George Felos. Yet
they will petition the Govenor of California to spare the life of a
murderer who is scheduled to die by lethal injection in 9 days.
The ACLU has consistently shown it's real motivations. But hides
behind the name of their organization. I do believe that we have such
a thing as Truth In Advertising. Well it is my opinion that the ACLU
is violating these laws by pulling the old bait and switch. They lure
contributors into their finely woven web of deceit, bilk them for
their membership dues, send them an official looking card, and give
them the false sense that they have contributed to the protection of
the civil liberties of all Americans.
When the fact is they use the money that they collect to represent
pedophiles, members of NAMBLA, murderers like Stanley "Tookie"
Williams, and terrorists. They also use the money that they collect to
file lawsuits designed to remove some basic American Institutions.
They use strong arm tactics and a federal law to pressure communities
to remove public displays of religion. They file lawsuits to enable
local public schools to teach 3rd graders about homosexuality and that
it is normal. And then they give out awards to their pet liberals like
George Greer.
