Simon Perez A huge, two-year undercover federal investigation of the Hell's Angels came to a head at 6am Wednesday, with armed agents raiding buildings and making arrests across five states. The headquarters of the San Francisco Hell's Angels chapter was part of the early-morning activity. Court documents explaining what federal agents were looking for were still sealed in the early afternoon. However, we do know that ATF agents began the raids simultaneously in Alaska, Washington, California, Nevada, and Arizona. They served more than 80 search warrants and more than 40 arrest warrants. » 12-03-2003 ============================ Searched news for Hell Angeles. Results 1 - 10 of about 488. Federal agents raided several sites in the Bay Area early this morning, resulting in the arrest of numerous people associated with the Hell's Angels motorcycle club, according to Marti McKee, spokeswoman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. McKee said the raids occurred "all over,'' at spots including Richmond, San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Cruz County. Twenty-nine search warrants were executed beginning at 6 a.m. in Northern California, along with 24 arrest warrants. Additional warrants were executed in Southern California, Arizona, Washington state, Nevada, and Alaska. In San Francisco, neighbors in the area of Tennessee and 22nd streets were surprised to wake up and find the street blocked off by police and federal agents. McKee said that raid centered around the San Francisco Hell's Angels headquarters and involved the participation of local police. "San Francisco police did the entry and secured the scene,'' she said. "Now that they've taken care of that, ATF agents are going in to search.'' McKee said she believes the Northern California warrants resulted in 16 or 17 arrests today. She said that she could not disclose why the warrants had been issued, but said that they were the result of a two-year federal investigation. Documents relating to the investigation are currently sealed under court order. More information on the raids will be released "once we've determined the court documents have been unsealed,'' McKee said. That could happen as early as 2:30 p.m. today, McKee said.
