Once upon a time, there was an Honorable Court. In that Honorable Court, there was an Honorable Cop, Honorable Prosecutor, Honorable Attorney, Honorable Judge, and an Honorable Politician . . .

And if you believe there was ever anything like that in this or any other country, you must also still believe in the Jolly Green Giant, The Flying Nun and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer—for there never has been any such thing in Las Vegas, Nevada, or anywhere else for that matter.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. Two such exceptions in Las Vegas are probably Judge Michael Cherry of the Las Vegas District Court, and Judge Mahan of the Las Vegas Federal Court—two men who thus far have clean records, and I have yet to hear a single derogatory word about either of them.

Last week while having lunch with a couple of nice people at the Golden Nugget, I was introduced to Federal Judge Mahan. He stood up from his table and extended his hand to me with a friendly smile on his face. His handshake was solid, firm, and genuine—strong indicators of a good man who has pride in himself, confidence, and sincerity. I looked him straight in the eye while shaking his hand and said, "I've always wondered what an honest judge looked like."

The sincere, confident smile remained on his face as he said, "I try."

Unfortunately, I'd just missed Judge Michael Cherry, who was sitting with Judge Mahan until a minute or so before I was introduced. I would've very much liked to shake hands with Judge Cherry, for I've been an admirer of his for many years. I've never had the opportunity to actually meet him, but sat in the corrupt Las Vegas courts many times admiring him when he was a public defender doing what a public defender is supposed to do—actually do his best to defend his clients. Once, I even attempted to hire him to be my defense counsel, but unavoidable circumstances prevented that from happening.

However, Judge Cherry and Judge Mahan are absolutely exceptions to the rule in Las Vegas, which my civil rights lawsuit pending in the corrupt Las Vegas Federal Court clearly shows. Titled Franklin D. Vipperman, Plaintiff, vs. Nevada Department Of Parole And Probation, John Compston; Carols Concha; Chuck Gates; and Jeffrey Jeanquart, Defendants. (Case No. CV-S-00-1355 RLH (Judge Roger L. Hunt)), the suit shows that while those four named defendants have been hiding out and avoiding service of the Summonses and Complaint for nearly two years, three of them have finally been tracked down and served. One more to go . . .

In the FACTS AND STATEMENTS OF THE CASE within that lawsuit, this is what you can find concerning the time my alleged, supposed-to-be, highly paid defense/trial/appeal counsel Jeffrey D. Sobel filed . . .

[Begin excerpt]:

"A Motion For Change Of Venue because of the overwhelmingly derogatory news accounts in relation to Vipperman and his Case. Exhibit 53." (Whereby the news media of Las Vegas as it always has, constantly published slanted, misleading, derogatory, and untruthful news articles about me and the case for two full years to insure I was convicted at trial long before it ever took place.

And Sobel had sent me to the news records department to search out those inflammatory news articles, so he could attach them to a Motion to the Nevada Supreme Court requesting a change of Venue from Las Vegas so I would have at least a tiny chance of getting a fair trial somewhere else. Well, don't you know, Jeffrey D. Sobel charged me a few thousand dollars for that Motion, which consisted of three stinking worthless pages, [without] a single inflammatory news article attached to it.

"Consequently; the Nevada Supreme Court denied the Motion because it was not supported with a single article of the about fifty (50) derogatory news articles I had found in the archives, and gave to Sobel to support the Motion with. Which of course he did [not] do, as he absolutely should have, because [he] did not really want to travel out of town just to defend me, and try to get me a fair trial. It being much easier and simpler for him to just sell me down the tubes, and keep the large sums of money I had paid him, rather than spend any of it to defend me.)"

To this very day, I wish it had been possible to hire Michael Cherry to defend me, because I believe he would've fought those overwhelmingly corrupt bums in my trials as hard as he could. The corrupt court would have probably convicted me anyway, with all their lying cops, perjurers, false witnesses, and railroading . . . but I can't help but believe that Michael Cherry would NOT have sold me out at trial or on appeal like Jeffrey D. Sobel did—and I wouldn't have spent fourteen years in Nevada prisons.
