Dot, I assume you are new to this board. You should stick with it a while, read a lot of posts, and you will come to a clearer understanding of the TRUTH of what is happening.
You said "War brings out some of the strangest things in people, but personally I dont see the sence in attempting to harrass the persons who basically protect the Country or who go into other Countries to help those who are doing much less better than the USA does on an average."
The majority of people aren't advocating harassment of America's sons and daughters that are fighting in this theatrical event. But please don't mistake what this war is about. It's NOT about freeing anybody, or liberating anyone from a "sadistic freak". It's about the New World Order - the one world government spoken of in the Bible. Talk about sadistic freaks, this administration is full of them. Surely you don't believe the twin towers are no longer standing because of a terrorist attack by a bunch of Arabs...... How can you not feel anger to the point of hatred for Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the cronies when you realize THEY ARE THE ONES that killed 3000 innocent civillians on 9/11 as their excuse to plunge America into this war, and use all of it as an excuse to erode our freedoms even further.
Speaking of freedoms, you said "when it comes down to it, there is no reason to go against the persons who actually maintain this possibility of being free." Guess what Dot, we're NOT free!!!! The most effective form of slavery is when the people falsely BELIEVE they are free. That is where most people of the US are. Income taxes, social(ist) security, county taxes, state taxes, and taxes on most stuff you buy consumes at least 60% of the fruits of your labor. So you're not a total slave yet, only 60%. But you can rest assured that number will escalate. I know you have lots of reading homework in college, but you should take the time to read The Communist Manifesto (by Karl Marx) sometime, and you'll shockingly discover that we now have in place and practice the 10 planks to communism right here in the good ol USA!!!! And now for the ugliest part of reality concerning the statement you made which I quoted in this paragraph... We are headed straight for MARTIAL LAW in this country, and when it hits, a lot of these kids in uniform will be the ones forced to implement it. It's already happened in New Orleans, with American soldiers shooting and killing American citizens on our own soil....
"What if there are Iraqi orphans, will the people here adopt them?" What if???? Are you aware of the devastation we have caused over there? Have you ever heard of a cluster bomb? One big projectile that throws out clusters of smaller bombs. Unexploded ones look like balls and Iraqi children have been maimed and killed just simply finding a ball in the backyard to play with. White phosphorus was used against Iraqi civillians. White phosphorus reacts to 3 things; oxygen, water, and skin/meat. When used as a weapon it will leave a victim fully clothed, and underneath those clothes is a skeleton with the meat burned off.... Dot, it's not a matter of "what if". There ARE Iraqi orphans because of this war... And plenty of parents that have lost children. Are you aware that the total casualties as a result of this war now outnumber casualties from ALL TERRORIST ATTACKS WORLDWIDE SINCE 1968 by more than a margin of 2 to 1? Maybe we should just bring those Iraqi orphans over here by the truckload so the stinking EPA can conduct chemical testing on them: them....http://www.organicconsumers.org/epa6.cfm
"What if Iraq can somehow establish true Democracy..." What if the United States could abandon democracy and go back to being the REPUBLIC the founders fought for.....
"I am all ears; but in the mean time, do not screw with people who are ours." Don't think for one minute that our military leaders haven't tried their best to brainwash America's sons and daughters into being the most effecient killing machines they can be. Dot, the bottom line is these Iraqis did NOTHING TO AMERICA. They do not deserve what is happening over there. Ditto for the Afghanis. Unfortunately America is the original criminal constituent of this situation.
Now here's a novel suggestion. Turn off the TV. Quit listening to Faux News, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, and all the other propaganda machines, and start reading posts on this board on a daily basis. Follow up links, and learn the TRUTH.
Another novel idea. You may want to do what a good number of people on this board have done and quit listening to the local pulpit parrot, and pick up the Bible and actually read the Scriptures for yourself. I know it's a duaunting task, but if you read 4 chapters a day, you can read the whole thing in about a year. Start at page 1 just like a Steven King novel, and go from there. I would highly advise doing this, as many people are realizing that we may well be seeing the opening pages of the tribulation.... And it may pay to know who's side God is really on. I don't think it's Baal-worshipers (commonly known as mainstream christians) nor Molech-worshippers (commonly known as George W Bush, Karl Rove, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alan Greenspan, Bill Clinton, George H W Bush, Ronald Regan, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, David Gergen,.............as evidenced by their attendance/participation in the Bohemian Club at the Bohemian Grove) nor State of Texas worshippers (commonly known as a Texan who will give God the finger and eat that pork chop; but, then go stand in line to renew his Texas driver's license, and make damn sure he buckles up after he walks out of there and gets in his car) nor worshippers of any other god. And believe me, there are more gods out there than you or I can count. The God I've decided to go with is the God of Abraham, Moses, and Isaac; who is a God that preachers dismiss or at best misrepresent, a jealous God who is sick of this shit and will put an end to it...
Studying the Scriptures may give you the answer to your last question "What seems more likely though; is that all the questions of my parent's generation are still the same--just what the hell are we doing?" Hopefully we is learning...
