MY FELLOW ACTIVIST:

Prior to the present Iraq war and also the Gulf War our American Politicians of both parties were constantly condemning Saddam Hussein for the torture of his Iraqi citizens. In fact, this was a well established public policy of these United States that was well documented or known throughout the world. Saddam killed Iraq innocent citizen's, now we are doing the same.

Today our present United States President and his dominated Republican Congress are now advocating or approving the use of torture in secrecy in the same manner that Saddam Hussein once did against his Iraqi people or his population. Did not Saddam Hussein also have tribunal "military" style trials in Iraq and not civilian trials to suppress his people?

These form of "torture and tribunal" policies have only created more hatred toward America in Iraq and throughout the world, and also provides the Iraq war insurgency movement with a recruiting tool as a means to attract more Iraqi citizens to oppose us. As a result of these Bush Republican adopted war policies in Iraq, we have created a double standard policy within this region of the world. In essence, we should not condemn what Saddam Hussein once did if we are going to follow in his identical policy footsteps. So what in the hell are we fighting for in Iraq? Is it now our objective to once again "restore" the Saddam Hussein's former regime policies that will only be "transferred" under the control to an "occupation" command?

The POW form of "torture" or War policy will not provide this Nation with more security, it will only provide us with additional insecurity. Will POW torture provide our U.S. troops with more security or less security in the future?

What if this Nation suddenly found ourselves at war with Russia or with the Nation of China, would this not clear the way for these Nation's to use torture tactics against our very own military personnel should they ever be captured by a foreign nation in the future? Bush should stop thinking about his War Legacy, and protect our troops by every means possible that may be available to him, "regardless" of where our troops may be deployed. The torture and secret prison policies adopted by this Bush Administration are only setting a precedence throughout the world that will only place our U.S. troops in danger contrary to protecting them. Bush and his Republicans claim that they are concerned in regard to the safety of our troops, it is now time for them to prove it.

Prior to this Neocon Republican Administration our U. S, Government previously worked or contracted with "friendly" Muslim Nations to use "torture" on any of our Muslim prisoners that we may have captured. In retrospect to the previous, what was the need to change this policy by establishing "secret" torture camps?

If this identical form of torture policy had worked before by utilizing other experienced Nations who had utilized torture over many years, why was there a sudden or urgent need for a change in policy by the present Bush Administration? What in hell was the Bush motive behind all of this torture nonsense? Does not Bush realize that a captured prisoner will also tell a lie to any interrogator so as to avoid torture? Why is it that President Bush wants to make enemies throughout the world against the United States? Could it be that he is trying to provoke an attack on this Nation so that his corporate Republicans can be reelected to the U.S. Congress in the year of 2006?

I shall not pretend that I am a "Born Again" person or President, but I do remember how Jesus was severely tortured during his imprisonment by the Romans prior to the time he was crucified and nailed to his cross for our sins. I therefore believe that Jesus would condemn the torture of human beings on this earth, and it is my hope and prayer that Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell will be "compassionate" enough to oppose this use of torture as of now or in the future.
