About Face
Written by John Henry
Welcome to About Face
“About Face” is a program brought to you by the Phoenix
Chapter of Veterans For Peace. Veterans For Peace is a
national organization that draws on the personal experiences
of veterans to raise awareness of the true costs and
consequences of militarism and war and to seek peaceful,
effective alternatives. There are over 135 active chapters
across this country and is spreading. They have helped Cindy
Sheehan in her work to bring awareness of the human cost of
war. They were one of the first groups to arrive in New
Orleans and begin working to help the victims of Hurricane
Katrina and they established and set up “Arlington West”
sites in beach areas across California and other locations
in the United States to bring awareness of the cost of war.
The program “About Face” addresses the issues and concerns
of our veterans returning home from the war and military.
For example, we discuss issues such as the number of
homeless veterans and programs that provide assistance,
counseling, and training to help these heroes get another
chance in life. We discuss the effects of PTSD and how
sufferers of this disorder can get help. We also discuss
topics like the role of women in the military, War Crimes,
Counter Recruiting and effects of Depleted Uranium and Agent
Orange on our military forces and families. Our basic
mission is to work toward increasing public awareness of the
cost of war, to seek justice for veterans and victims of
war, and work toward abolishing war as an instrument of
national policy.
About Face is brought to you by Casey Moore's Oyster House
at 850 Ash St, Phoenix and Veterans For Peace Phoenix, 15825
S 28th Place, Phoenix.
