The idea of confronting the media is a popular one. Dissatisfaction with the devolution of TV News is widespread. Disgust with big media is everywhere even if it sometimes expresses itself with a mistaken belief that the problem is a non-existent "liberal media," or just the fault of an obnoxious personality like Bill O'Reilly.

CHICAGO PUBLICATION FILES FCC PETITION TO DENY TV STATION LICENSES
A “petition to deny renewal” of 18 commercial and public broadcast TV licenses was filed this week at the FCC by Third Coast Press, a community newspaper and website in the Chicago area. It stated that the stations have been “systematically negligent in serving the public interest in terms of their news and public affairs coverage, children’s programming, and hypercommercialism while systematically engaging in policies which brought specific harm to the Chicago African American community, the broader Arab and Muslim community, and other communities of color, by what can only be explained as their deliberate and repeated marginalization.”
