Being a Patriot, today
“The Election is over and the Nightmare Continues”
You voted for the candidates that seemed to be the least incompetent. George Bush and his cronies have been clear in their efforts to make sure that control remains in the hands of a few large corporations and special interests. George continues to present himself as not being excessively intelligent and he has been honest to his background, the way he was raised and what he was taught. George demonstrates a clear lack of interest in working for you.
John Kerry has been consistent in presenting himself as being energy deficient and about as sharp as a marble. He has been straightforward in his convoluted portrayal of his Vietnam experience. John did go to war, which is much more than George. George, a brave passenger, landed on an aircraftcarrier, wearing a flight suit.
You had a choice between republican George and democrat John and neither one seemed capable of doing the job. Were they the best that we as a nation could come up with? I don’t think so. They were the best that the political power brokers and corporate interests presented us with. Every major politician in our country owes his or her political life to at least one special interest or corporate interest group. You may be starting to feel un-represented and you may even have cynical/negative expectations of our political system. You may not be alone in your frustration.
If politicians owe their existence and allegiance to corporate and special interests, it is logical to assume that they are representing them. We can have representation and control in our free market, democratic system. We need to place attention at the base of power and the top. Control and representation is gained by not supporting those institutions and businesses that are being overly self-serving and not acting in our national best interest. When you communicate with an American Corporation, company or business and you are having difficulty understanding and talking with someone in India, Poland, China, Brazil, etc., stop doing business with that company. When you start doing business only with and support only those that do not send jobs overseas, as an example, outsourcing will be dramatically curtailed.
We must educate ourselves about the people and businesses we are supporting. Each time you purchase goods or services from a company or vote for a politician, you are supporting what they do. We must question every law, directive and piece of legislation, because they may not be in your and our interest. We must constantly question and expect actual good work and representation from our elected and appointed officials. They do work for us. We must take responsibility for our government. We have allowed and supported its current state of dysfunction. You are demonstrating an active interest in positive change by reading articles like this and not giving a great deal of credence to corporate sponsored news.
We must seek out information about alternatives to established power groups and businesses. Our support of alternatives will cause positive change. Each of us has expertise about alternatives that can be shared and used. Do you have information about doable alternative fuels, companies that outsource the least and most, banking, groceries, computers, insurance any alternative that can have economic/political impact?
I know about alternative health care. As an example, if you are one of the 64,000,000 that have some form of cardiovascular disease or know of someone that does, (again) read or have them read: “Lipitor: Thief of Memory, Statin Drugs and the Misguided war on Cholesterol” and “Health, Greed, Power” and “ Racketeering in Medicine”, (found at Amazon or downloadpress.com). Your life will improve and you will gain control over your health. This brief bit of information can effect 64 million people in a positive way.
Patriotism does not stop after you vote. The election is over, now start to gain some control and cause some real change. Support our free market economy by supporting alternatives. It is possible to once again have an actual two party political system, with politicians that represent the people. If you don’t watch out for you and your country the watching will not take place.
