Euthanasia is planned suicide operated with precision and is usually monitored by a professional for guaranteed results. Euthanasia is generally chosen by the concerned party after enduring a long term painful illness. Terri Schiavo, unfortunately, suffered traumatic injury resulting in her condition without having had an opportunity to make her wishes known in advance. Her situation is quite different than euthanasia, and she is at the mercy of many opinions.

I offered my thoughts on her ordeal, simply stated, her parents are willing to care for her, and my choice is always in favor of life if it is bearable. Without making any judgment relative to her husband, even though he must have made a more permanent commitment at the time of their marriage, which he has now determined to end, through her death.

My opinion is that the husband has a "legal" right to divorce her, not kill her, especially if her parents have consented to care for her. However, euthanasia is a totally different concept and invading or imposing upon the privacy and sanctity of the religious beliefs of another human being is God's territory not mine, I would have to concede them the right to terminate their own life.

A very difficult subject to address without being a sanctimonious ass, easy to talk crap, but I have had 4 of 7 family members commit suicide. In the final analysis the difference is about choosing ones own fate in the case of suicide and euthanasia ... in Terry Schiavo's situation, we don't know what her choice would be.
