The class action alleges that many cemetery plots at Menorah Gardens have been used for the wrong person, and that persons have been buried in the wrong plots, making plots unavailable to the person who actually purchased them. Among the allegations in the class action are that Menorah Gardens and SCI secretly broke open burial vaults and dumped human remains in a wooded area surrounding the cemeteries; that deceased persons were buried in locations other than the locations they had purchased; that burial vaults and coffins containing human remains were secretly crushed down in order to make room for new burials; and that human remains were dug up and moved to other locations in the cemetery after being originally placed in incorrect plots. The suit also alleges that people were buried on top of each other, rather than side by side, which is the way they had purchased their graves; that after the desecration and destruction of burial vaults already in the ground, body parts of different individuals were co-mingled, and that people were secretly buried, not next to each other, but either head to foot, or in various different locations in the cemetery without knowledge of the family members. "We are outraged by the condition of the remains and the desecration of the grave sites we have found at Menorah Gardens," stated Ervin A. Gonzalez, lead counsel for the class and a partner at Colson Hicks Eidson. "We want to alert families and loved ones of the deceased of the disrespectful and disgraceful burial practices taking place at these cemeteries. We seek to put an end to these shameful practices and to restore dignity to those aggrieved." Aside from the class action lawsuit, the two law firms are handling cases for individual families who have been damaged. Attorneys for the families are Ervin Gonzalez, Mike Eidson and Julie Braman Kane. http://www.colson.com/CM/Cases/cases83.asp Searched news for "Service Corporation International".
