Dear Dennis, Ken, Kathy, Info Warz, Webfairy, etc...,

I am addressing this to each of you for your consideration. I do not claim to have the
remedy to each of your problems, however, I have not experienced multiple, return sends since I took certain steps of which I will cover in the body of this send.

I have been a member of the apfn for years now (probably longer than most of you).

Some time ago (approx. 2 months), I was receiving return, undeliverable posts from the
Yahoo mail server in regards to sends that appeared to have originated from my Email
address. I was also at the same time receiving sends from the following lists which I was
not a member of : freepalestine@yahoogroups.com , liberatepalestine@yahoogroups.com  ,
americansagainstisrael@yahoogroups.com  .

I'm sure each of you can appreciate how upsetting this occurrence is. The potential abuse
is chilling, to say the least. I speculated that who ever this miscreant was that was
initiating this abusive tactic could send what ever they wanted to whom ever they wanted
and the result would be that the send would have appeared to have originated from my
source.

I started analyzing the extended Email headers and the subsequent relays of these Emails
through their Internet routing. My subsequent back tracking kept on pointing to:
"f-boyle@uiuc.ed  ". Now, I am not at this time indicating that Francis Boyle is the
perpetrator of this mischief. I realize that there are extremely talented individuals in IT that
can work seamless "Internet magic." What was happening to myself could on the opposite
end be occuring with Mr. Boyle. The two common denominators in this malady were him
and the Yahoo Email group server. FYI: 1). Mr. Boyle is the moderator of the above
mentioned groups; 2). There are certain subvert factions working behind the Yahoo
servers. 3) The largest revenue generator for provided service by Aol is the Federal Govt.

The following are a couple questions to each of you. How many of you opened the blank
subject header from f-boyle about "We are God" in which the writer rants about the
Arabs? Did you begin to receive the undeliverable returns after you opened that send?

Webfairy, I think you are on the right track in bringing to the lists attention about source
headers, however, what I think is occuring is a hack of individual Email headers. This was
hashed over by a couple of us in a computer user group that I belong to. The numerous
virus attacks to the apfn may be linked to the recurring "unsubscribe" message that is
generated on the apfn list. I do not think that the undeliverable, return send schism is
related to a virus. It could though be possibly related to a planted trojan/spy-agent via an
Email that opens a port for the subsequent hack. Email headers can be hacked and then
spoofed to make it appear that they originated from each of your systems. Requests can
then be generated to join lists that obviously the victim did not make nor wilfully initiate.
The following is what I did to alleviate the problem. I don't know if it will work for each of
you because one of the variables is that your individual IP's have spamming software
interfaced in their individual, proprietary mail servers.

1) Collect the raw data message info. from the suspect sends.
2) Notice your individual IP's of the Internet abuse at their support, Email address.
3) Make sure in your notice to your IP that you include the raw data info.
4) Change your Internet password for sign on to your IP.
5) Look on the web for a Port Scanner program and use it.
6) look on the web for a Port Blocker program and use it.

# 4 of the above is a necessary step to provide a "ring of security" and should be done
every 2-3 months regardless of the situation. I never open attachments, even from well
known friends.

#5 and #6 may not be applicable if you are an Aol subscriber.

A "heads-up" to all:

The Internet is definitely NOT user friendly any more. We have numerous factions to
thank for that and I'm sure each of you know what I am referring to. While I was just
collecting my mail I was attacked from the following sources: A) 198.248.220.123 B)
80.13.203.71 C) 158.135.8.75. The common denominator was that these attacks were all
aimed at port 1214. On 10/5 I was attacked from the following sources: A) 213.20.64.133 B)
24.125.38.93 C) 217.82.199.108 D) 62.226.96.244. The common denominator is that they were
all aimed at port 4662. The reason why I mentioned the above sources is that they blew
right through my first firewall (another ring of security) which is fairly proficient at warding
off attacks. Fortunately, my second firewall fended off these intrusions. Both firewalls are
on the fly, interactive programs.
