Medlin Construction Group Ltd.*, San Antonio, Texas, is being awarded $10,361,038 as part of an $11,152,038 (total if options are exercised) firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a new fitness center and demolition of an existing fitness center. The project includes demolition, abatement, site work, structural concrete floors, concrete masonry unit bearing walls, steel structure, structural standing seam metal roof, brick veneer, translucent insulated wall panels, exterior insulation and finish system, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium wood flooring, racquetball courts, interior finishes, fire protection systems, security systems, electrical, lighting protection, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning complete and ready for use. Options include an elevated running track and furnishings and equipment items. Work will be performed at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas, and completion is expected by March 22, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 176 bids solicited on July 26, 2001, and nine bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth, Texas, is the contracting activity (DACA63-01-C-0008).

S. B. Ballard Construction Co., Virginia Beach, Va., is being awarded a $10,196,910 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a multi-purpose gymnasium, pool, nautilus/weight room, aerobics/exercise area with padded floor, locker rooms, sauna and steam room, administrative offices with equipment issue/storage area and laundry. The building will connect to the existing racquetball facility, Building 226, and will include alterations of the racquetball facility. Work will be performed at Langley Air Force Base, Va., and completion is expected by June 30, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 80 bids solicited on May 7, 2001, and 13 bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (DACA65-01-C-0054).

General Dynamics Ordnance Systems, Burlington, Vt., is being awarded an $11,757,975 delivery order amount as part of firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract DAAA09-99-D-0004 for the demilitarization of nine families of conventional ammunition. These families include pyrotechnics, bombs, high explosive cartridges, explosive D, improved conventional munitions, bulk propellant, propelling charges, fuzes and small caliber ammunition. Work will be performed at Fort Wingate, N.M. (28.10%); Woodberry, Ark. (18.16%); Marion, Ill. (9.14%); Joplin, Mo. (7.20%); and Vogelgesang, Germany (37.40%), and completion is expected by Feb. 12, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were two bids solicited on June 1, 2001, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Operations Support Command, Rock Island, Ill., is the contracting activity.

Parsons Brinckerhoff/NAMMO DEMIL LLC, New York, N.Y., is being awarded a $9,837,985 delivery order amount as part of firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract DAAA09-99-D-0003 for the demilitarization of nine families of conventional ammunition. SatoTravel, Arlington, Va., is being awarded an $11,041,670 firm-fixed-price contract for official Navy travel management services. Services to be provided include air, bus and rail reservations and ticketing for all scheduled carriers, government and commercial lodging reservations and rental car arrangements. This contract includes options which, if exercised would bring the total cumulative value of this contract to $68,137,670. Work will be performed at 68 main and branch travel offices as well as at 82 remote ticketing sites throughout numerous continental United States and overseas locations and is expected to be completed by September 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via an electronic solicitation to a Navy website with three offers received. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Detachment Philadelphia, Pa., is the contracting activity (N00140-02-C-N702).

SpawGlass Contractors Inc., Selma, Texas, is being awarded $6,004,000 as part of a firm-fixed-price contract with a cumulative total of $6,377,100 if all options are exercised to design and build a dining facility. The contractor will construct a dining facility for 1,092 persons and demolish one building, with asbestos and lead based paint removal. Supporting facilities include utilities, electrical service, fire protection and alarm systems, paving, walks, curbs and gutters, access roads, storm drainage, information systems, heating, air conditioning and site improvements. Access to the handicapped will be provided. Work will be performed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and completion is expected by April 1, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 68 bids solicited on Nov. 30, 2000, and 10 bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth, Texas, is the contracting activity (DACA63-01-C-0010).

Harkins Builders Inc., Marriottsville, Md., is being awarded a $5,077,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the demolition of 48 family housing units and associated structures, including existing utility, roadway, and recreation areas within the area, and asbestos and lead based paint abatement. The contractor will construct between 36 and 48 three-bedroom type family housing units arranged in townhouse, duplex, or detached arrangements, completed and ready for occupancy by Army families. The new units are to be located on a new site and will require new utility mains and laterals to support the new housing units. Tot lots, basketball courts, roadways, sidewalks, parking areas and other features normally included in residential developments will also be provided. Work will be performed at Fort Detrick, Md., and completion is expected by Sept. 30, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 70 bids solicited on Nov. 16, 2000, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (DACA65-01-C-0056).

Barclay White/Coakley Williams Construction (a joint venture), Gaithersburg, Md., is being awarded a $9,097,000 firm-fixed-price task order under a multiple award task order construction contract. This task order is for the design and construction of a physical fitness center at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va. Work will include demolition of an existing building, site improvements and incidental related work. Work will be performed in Quantico, Va., and is expected to be completed by December 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The basic contract was competitively procured with 54 proposals solicited, 11 offers received, and award made to five contractors on Aug. 18, 1999. The basic total contract amount is not to exceed $500,000,000 within the five-year contract period of performance. The multiple contractors (five in number) may compete for task orders under the terms and conditions of the existing contract. Two proposals were received for this task order. Orbital Sciences Corp., Germantown, Md., is being awarded a $9,048,310 firm-fixed-price contract to provide for the Egyptian Integrated Mission Support System (EIMSS) Phase 2. Program consists of workstations (hardware and software), database preparation system, workstation integration and support equipment to assist Egyptian Air Force aircrews in conducting automated pre-mission planning, exercises and combat flight operations. Phase 2 will install an additional 25 systems and integrate networking and Arabic language capabilities. Additional items included in the EIMSS Phase 2 procurement are contractor technical assistance, initial spares and contractor depot support. At this time, the total amount of funds has been obligated. This effort supports foreign military sales to Egypt. This work is to be completed July 2004. Solicitation began January 2001; negotiations were completed June 2001. The Headquarters Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., is the contracting activity (F19628-01-C-0058).
