Dear Editor,

We’ve run a number of articles about Ben Marble. Now here’s one BY him, reporting on the missing dead in Mississippi. He writes well. But there’s another reason we’re giving him coverage. We’ve had a huge reader response describing him as a hero. We progressives need new blood in the hero category. It’s easy to see what Cindy Sheehan has been able to accomplish as she has developed a hero persona. I think we can take Ben’s 15 minute Andy Warhol moment and help him become a courageous spokesman. As an ER doctor, a musician, and a politically savvy southerner, he has a real opportunity to develop a voice that can make a difference.

I hope you’ll support Ben by linking to this article.

Anthony Wade just returned from doing a week of volunteer work in the Gulf. His observations in his article, What I Learned In Louisiana, cut to the core of the issues with heart, spirit and passion. And then, Anthony having been too busy while in the Gulf region to write, he dashed out another great article taking Judith Miller to task.

Psychiatrist Carol Wolman writes from a progressive Christian perspective. Her article, Praying for George, discusses her diagnosis of him as personality disorder. That reminded me of the first article of hers we ever published, in March 2003, Is the President Nuts? Diagnosing Dubya , which I decided to re-introduce to your readers. Your readers may enjoy it too. It’s still fresh as a daisy—a real evergreen.

Taking Back the Congress with the Help of DeLay, Frist, Bush, Brown and Mier At the big picture, national level, the right wing, republican world is a chaotic mess. It would seem that they would be in big trouble for the 2006 round of elections. But there’s a fly in the ointment and that’s local candidate loyalty. http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_rob_kall_051004_taking_back_the_cong.htm

Are you Kidding Me? Judy Miller is free and expects us to believe that Scooter Libby was her source. I know she is in the business of passing fiction off as news, but does anyone really buy this? http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_anthony__051003_are_you_kidding_me_.htm

Carol Wolman:
Praying for George I pray that George will repent of his lies, thefts from the American people, murder of so many Iraqis, and cleanse his soul of evil. Bush’s Noble Cause When you examine Bush's "noble cause" that is worth the lives of our soldiers--it turns out that it has nothing to do with freedom and democracy, and there is nothing noble about it. http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_mick_you_051003__b__bush_s_noble_cau.htm

The Crony Saga Of the all stories coming out of the hurricane relief efforts, the ice saga is one of the most bizarre. Iraq-- a right rollicking cock-up The Bush-war in Iraq has degenerated into "greatest strategic disaster in United States history”.
