SECOND AMENDMENT UNDER FIRE
Executive Wayne LaPierre, National Rifle Association
reports in the October 2005 American Rifleman magazine that there is a very real United Nations threat to America's national sovereignty.Massive efforts our underway to place our Second Amendment rights under the heel of a global firearm prohibition.
During the recent Biennial Meeting of States in which he participated anong only a handful of oppenents to this scheme the world gun ban crowd has made it clear that their major target is private ownership of firearms.
A manifesto distributed by the International Action Network on Small Arms(IANSA) simply titled "Ownership," spells out "minimal" goals for U.N. control and destruction of privately owned guns-yours and mine. It includes the following steps:
1) Prohibit civilian ownership of certain weapons(read, handguns and semi-automatics).
2) Prevent the build up of private arsenals(read, Ban gun collecting).
3) License all legal users. Register all small arms. Implement safe storage requirements(read, U.N. imposed site inspections of your home with power to take your guns).
4) Limit the carrying of guns(read, the end of Right to Carry).
5) Restrict ammunition sales to licensed holders only. Effectively enforce these restrictions(read, enforcement aided by groups like the Violence Policy Center and the Brady Campaign).
6) Make gun laws uniform within national borders(read, U.N. mandated Federal gun bans).
Remember, IANSA is headed by Rebecca Peters, who claims among he accomplishments the confiscatory ban in Australia that robbed 550,000 registered semi-automatics and shotguns and all slide action rifles in private hands of licensed firearms owners.
During the debate at Kings College London, Peters lectured that under her world view, hunters in America would only be allowed to use single shot rifles and to recreational and competitive shooters she said,"Take up another sport."
U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John R. Bolton has his work cut out for him.LaPierre says,"For us the task is daunting and the fight is enormous. The world gun ban crowd is deadly serious. As NRA members, this is our fight. And it is a do-or-die battle for freedom.Main Page - Thursday, 10/06/05
