Conservatives Duped By Neo-Cons

A subtle realization is sweeping across America's rank-and-file
conservatives. These individuals are beginning to see that they've been
duped by neo-cons such as Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and John R.
Bolton who are now firmly in control of U.S. foreign policy. The reason
for their disillusionment revolves around the neo-cons' origins, and the
man who is known as their patron saint - a German Jewish intellectual
named Leo Strauss.

To show how conservatives have been betrayed by these Straussian
neo-cons, we first need to identify who precisely these individuals are,
and where they came from. In other words, each and every conservative in
this country should be aware of who is supposedly championing their
cause. The neo-cons were originally a small-knit group of liberal Jewish
intellectuals and academics who were followers of Henry "Scoop" Jackson
in the Democratic Party. Yes, you read that correctly. The neo-cons had
their roots in the Democratic Party. But, due to their Zionist
loyalties, these men felt that the Democrats were not adequately
supporting the Defense Department, so they broke away during the Nixon
era.

This influential clique, devotees of university professor Leo Strauss
with absolutely no military experience, soon migrated toward think tank
groups such as the PNAC (Project for a New American Century), the AEI
(American Enterprise Institute), and JINSA (the Jewish Institute for
National Security Affairs), and include the likes of Paul Wolfowitz,
Henry Kissinger, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Perle (aka "the
prince of darkness"), John Bolton, Douglas Feith, plus foreigners such
as Ariel Sharon and Afghanistani Zalmay Khalizad. This list also
includes William Kristol (publisher of the Weekly Standard), William
Bennett, author Allan Bloom, and John Podhoretz (New York Post
editorialist).

On the surface, nothing seems out of the ordinary. But once we look at
the Defense Department's relationship with Professor Leo Strauss, things
start to go awry. Why? Because everything the neo-cons stand for is in
direct opposition to the tenets of authentic conservatism. If you're not
convinced, read on.

To begin, let me ask this question: how can true fiscal conservatives
support a cabinet that is so economically liberal with our country's
finances that every Democratic administration before it pales in
comparison? (Also, please note, Republicans control both houses of the
Congress.) And I'm not only talking about defense spending. Every single
government department has had its budget raised dramatically. Every one!
The result is that our federal deficit for 2003 will top $550 billion,
and is likely to top $600 billion in 2004. Our economy is in such a
vulnerable position that Ken Moritsugu, writing for Knight-Ridder
newspapers on September 25, 2003, said, "A dollar crash could devastate
the American and global economies." And what do the neo-cons want
Congress to do? Give them $87 billion more to spend in Iraq, including
$164 million to improve the Iraqi army's school curriculum, $100 million
for garbage trucks, and $400 million for two new prisons priced at
$50,000/bed! (Source: Alan Fram, Associated Press) This isn't fiscal
conservatism, its outright insanity.

Likewise, conservatives adhere to a constitutionally limited government
with rights spelled-out by our Founding Fathers. Yet here is what Leo
Strauss, neo-con godfather, has to say about this concept: "Essential
truth about human society and history should be held by an elite and
withheld from others who lack the fortitude to deal with truth." He also
wrote, "Philosophers need to tell noble lies not only to the people at
large, but also to the powerful politicians whom they serve." Now
remember, the neo-cons see themselves first and foremost as
PHILOSOPHERS! Keep this in mind when you consider the WMD debacle,
especially when Shadia Drury writes in Leo Strauss and the American
Right: "Perpetual deception of the citizens by those in power is
critical in Strauss' view." In a May 22, 2003 article entitled Leo
Lincoln? Thomas J. DiLorenzo added, "Strauss believed in perpetual
deception of the ruled by their rulers if nationalistic objectives are
to be achieved." In this sense, the only people who are able to
understand the 'hidden meaning' of history are THEM - the
intellectuals - while the public at large is kept in the dark about
their true political designs. Does this sound like a constitutional
republic with democratic rule, or more like a New World Order secret
society?

Conservatives have to ask themselves: do we really want a system where
an elite few rule (a philosopher-king similar to England's King George)
where state power and unlimited government keep increasing in the name
of nationalism? Folks, Strauss and his adherents are precisely what our
Founding Fathers warned us against. But according to Leo Strauss, "Those
who are fit to rule are those who realize there is no morality and that
there is only one natural right, the right of the superior to rule over
the inferior."

These words are even more chilling when viewed in the context of our
current perpetual war scenario (which many in the Bush administration
admit could go on for 40 or 50 more years). But from my perspective,
true conservatives believe in a strong defense and the containment of
our enemies, not an in-your-face Orwellian nightmare where new
antagonists are created each week. In other words, do we want a
combination of strength and prevention, or as Strauss condones, an
'aggressive belligerent foreign policy?'

Jim Lobe takes this sentiment one step further in a May 19, 2003
article, stating that Strauss believed, "An omnipotent state can only be
maintained if there is an external threat, even if one has to be
manufactured." (Leo Strauss' Philosophy of Deception) Strauss even went
so far as to say, "Are political entities not compelled to use force and
fraud if they are to prosper?" Joshua Jonah Marshall adds even more
damning weight to this argument in an article for the Washington Monthly
about Strauss and the neo-cons. "It's okay to be spectacularly wrong,
even brazenly deceptive about the details, so long as you have a moral
vision and a willingness to use force." Maybe conservatives should start
rethinking who they put their trust in, especially in light of the
preponderance of evidence pointing toward foreknowledge of the 9-11
terrorist attacks both inside and outside the government, deceit
regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Richard Perle's deliberate
lie to an Italian journalist when he said that Mohammed Atta met with
Saddam Hussein in Baghdad prior to 9-11. What do true conservatives
want - honesty in government, or a rationalization for 'necessary lies'
(Strauss)? Or, again as Strauss condones, do we want the masses to be
lied to for our own PROTECTION? But in all honesty, these people don't
really want to protect us, for Strauss wrote, "Because mankind is
intrinsically wicked, he has to be governed. Such governance can only be
established, however, when men are united - and they can only be united
against each other." Folks, this is the New World Order's
divide-and-conquer philosophy at its ugliest and most base - a
Machiavellian view that new enemies must always be created, even if they
don't actually exist. To these lunatics, Orwellian perpetual war is much
more desirable than lasting peace.

But doesn't plotting man against his fellow man on a continual basis
negate everything that conservatives adhere to in regard to their
Christian beliefs? I'm sorry to break this to you, but Leo Strauss felt
that even though religion was important, they should not be bound by it.
Rather, he saw religion as a propaganda device which the State used to
exert more control over the populace, especially where war was
concerned. Karl Marx once opined that religion was an opiate for the
masses, and Leo Strauss agreed, saying that people needed their opium.
William Strauss clarified Strauss's views on this subject by writing,
"The ostensibly hidden truth is that expediency works; there is no
certain God to punish wrongdoing; and virtue is unattainable by most
people. Machiavelli was right. There is a natural hierarchy of humans,
and rulers must restrict free inquiry and exploit the mediocrity and
vice of ordinary people so as to keep society in order." Ladies and
gentlemen, do these sound like the thoughts of a god-fearing Christian
conservative, or the ranting of an opportunistic pagan closer to Hitler
than Reagan? And remember, Leo Strauss is the 'guiding light' of the
neo-con movement!

Haven't conservatives been historically suspicious of liberal, secular,
intellectual academics? Well, that's what the neo-cons are, and here is
what they believe in:

- Most people cannot be virtuous
- Most people cannot handle the truth
- Only the elite have the means for truth
- The elite should keep the 'truth' to only themselves
- There is no God to punish wrongdoers, thus man (self-appointed
benevolent dictators) should be the ones to do it
- There is a natural hierarchy of humans (does this sound
reminiscent of a caste system? If so, whatever happened to all
men being created equal?)
- The elite have every right to limit inquiry into their actions
- Finally, the elite can exploit the masses for their own benefit
and gain

Can you see what they condone? Is it starting to sink in? This isn't
even remotely close to the hope-filled tenets of our Constitution.
Instead, it reeks of darkness, elitism, and a 1984-style anti-Utopia.
Ex-CIA agent Raymond McGovern recently told us in an interview that
everyone in the George Bush, Sr. cabinet called these fledgling neo-cons
the 'crazies' and wanted to keep them far-removed and out-of-sight in a
corner. Even the current CIA is fed-up with their shenanigans and refuse
to stay silent about their lies any longer. (The nonexistent Niger-Iraqi
yellowcake uranium documents are a perfect example.) These warmongering
nut-cases are so extreme that their closest political parallel would be
Israel's Likud Party, who undoubtedly represent one of the biggest
obstacles to peace in the Middle East. What's even scarier is that there
are still people who wholeheartedly embrace these individuals and their
Brave New World philosophies.

Luckily, conservatives are beginning to see that these neo-cons are
nothing more than IMPLEMENTERS for the New World Order, and are being
used as a cover story to further their Globalist aims to make the U.N.
an overlord for our perpetual war culture. These evil men don't believe
in democracy, American sovereignty, or the form of government envisioned
by our Founding Fathers. Instead, they're promoting an agenda that is
far removed from what everyday conservatives hold dear.

To close, I'll leave you with two quotes. The first comes from Jeet Heer
of The Boston Globe: "If you read Strass with a skeptical mind, he
emerges as a disguised Machiavelli, a cynical teacher who encouraged his
followers to believe that their intellectual superiority entitles them
to rule over the bulk of humanity by means of duplicity."

The second originates from Burt Blumert: "Neocons, as ex-Trotskyites,
are bad enough, but those who follow the pro-pagan Leo Strauss are
deadly. He advocated the Big Lie. Forgive me for all the gory details,
but these people - with their other leaders like Bill Buckley and Irving
Kristol and the help of the CIA - perverted the American Right into
loving the welfare-warfare State."

All the harm and evils that Bill Clinton did to America as a student of
Carroll Quigley, Paul Wolfowitz and his mentor Leo Strauss are doing to
the conservative movement. If you see the correlation between these two
forces, then it's clear that we need to send these 'crazies' packing -
the sooner the better. I just hope that the damage they've done hasn't
paved the way for a Democratic devil like Hillary Clinton to stroll into
the Oval Office.

there is tyranny." Thomas Jefferson
