Why Don't They Want Me Around?
A concerned citizen called and said that she feared that an event was being held today that was going to register illegal aliens to vote. It was going to be at Las Cazuelitas de Tucson - 2615 S 6 Av - a restaurant in South Tucson. I told her I would check it out.
I arrived at about 2:30PM and observed a No on Prop 200 get out the vote party on the corner of the restaurant - Spanish speaking only event. I walked and looked around, and made a call attempting to get an interrupter to follow up - I was unable to find one who was available. Around 2:40 a young man, a young woman, Avolardo Frizbe(sp?), the Manager and the security guard approached me and said that I would have to leave, this was a private party. I responded that if they had a problem with me being there at a public voter registration party then maybe we should call TPD, maybe there was wrong doings going on. The manager then told me I could stay, just don't cause any trouble. One of the on lookers ask me, "Don't you have something better to do?" I responded, "Other then protecting my Country, I don't think so!"
I hung around for a minute or two more as they got on their cell phones and took pictures. I then walked out on to the sidewalk and started to take a picture. The Manager yelled, "This is private property!", and I said, "I know that is why I am on public property." Here are a few of the pictures I took:
