How does it feel: Dylan was right. We're now on our own
By
http://jpstillwater.blogspot.com "How does it feel?" Bob Dylan asked us, "to be on your own?"
After the failure of FEMA, the gift of billions of tax dollars to Halliburton and other Bush cronies, the criminal indictment of the Republican Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, the latest grim photos of torture in Iraq by so-called American troops and the appointment of the Bush bureaucracy's very own voice-over guy John Roberts to the Supreme Court, something has been made perfectly clear to those of us Americans who still live, work, love, raise kids and try to be good citizens of our country -- to those of us who don't lie, steal, embezzle or break the law. To those of us who eschew hypocrisy and believe in the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, the message has gone out loud and clear:
NO ONE CARES WHAT WE THINK.
No one wants our contribution to the American Dream. No one in Washington DC gives a damn about us. They just wish we would simply hand over our money, forget our ideals and go away -- and it doesn't matter where. Just as long as our corpses don't stink up the place.
What if those of us who still believe in the U.S. Constitution just melted into the fog and finally gave up trying to stop the wholesale pillaging of our government? Would anybody miss us? Hardly.
"Nobody wants you," mainstream America constantly tells us. "You are wrong, stupid and scum. You have nothing to contribute, you have nothing to add. Go away."
Didn't they tell that to the Jews in Nazi Germany too?

From Rush Limbaugh: Because the American people have utterly rejected it, liberalism has been forced underground. The reason they have to lie, the reason they have to pretend to be what they're not, is because we've triumphed in the area of ideas. It proves that they know that their entire belief system has been given the thumbs down by the majority.

From Stan: Why are you still in America? Wouldn't you be better off in Canada or France with your own like-minded non-thinkers?
****
From Leo: Liberals are always on a 'mission' and they all seem to fade away. This will also fade away in the news and we will hear no more about it. I can't tell you how many stories the liberals have tried to keep it moving in the media and have failed. The louder you scream the more I see the GOP will continue winnning elections.

From Lassie: If you think Jesus was a Liberal......YOU'VE GOT TO BE OUT OF YOUR EVER-LOVING MIND!!! (But of course most Liberals truly are!!) You tell me one place in the Bible that it states that Jesus was a Liberal!!

From Judson Cox: The Justice Department has been so whipped by ACLU and its fellow travelers, that it lacks the will to prosecute treason and sedition. For this reason, I am encouraging the House Committee on Un-American Activities be reinstituted to investigate and spur prosecution of seditious activities. We must send a clear message to the fifth column within our nation, that their illegal activities will no longer be tolerated. The Left screams that I am attacking their freedom of speech, but all I am asking is that the law be enforced.

From former Education Secretary William Bennett: Bennett, on his radio show, "Morning in America" [stated] "I do know it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down," said Bennett, author of "The Book of Virtues." [Why isn't every pro life advocate in America demanding that Bennett be taken off the radio? What? Abortions are only evil when white people have them?]

From NewsMax: With liberals alive and dangerous in America, Ann Coulter, like the action doll that was made in her image a few years ago, is fighting back. This time she is taking no prisoners. At least liberal ones.... We asked Ann how to talk to liberals about Hurricane Katrina, the latest controversy du jour. "Explain to them that evacuating a city is the job of the mayor and the governor, not the federal government," Ann said. [And someone explain to Ann that Governor Blanco signed off to the federal government before the hurricane hit. And have someone explain to her too what that meant -- the law clearly states that the Feds were in charge. Period.]

From John [The Mormons have a good idea here]: The reason we, the Mormons, were more prepared [for the Katrina disaster] is that we have a love-hate relationship with state and federal governments that goes back 150 years. My forefathers were driven out of Kirkland Ohio (1838) and Nauvoo Illinois (1846) by mobs because of their religion and their stand on political issues. Our leader, Joseph Smith, was murdered in Illinois by members of the state militia. The governor of Missouri issued an "extermination order" that all Mormons must leave or be killed (183?). 5000 church members were driven out of Missouri by the state militia because they were New Englanders in a slave state. That's why they ended up in Salt Lake -- it was an uninhabited desert, no one else wanted to live there.
In Utah, President Buchanan declared war (1857) on Utah and sent an army of 5000 men to subdue the Mormons. Then federally-appointed governors disenfranchised the Church and confiscated all Church property over polygamy (1880s). So we are not enamored with federal help.
We also have a Henny-Penny attitude, "I'll do it myself." Our emphasis is on individual and family responsibility and accountability, not on government support. The Church has emphasized for more that 75 years that each family should have necessary food and supplies to last through short or long term emergencies.
At the local congregation level, called a ward, and at the aggregate level, called a stake, made up of 5-10 wards, every individual is assigned to someone to be responsible for them and to account for them. The wards and stakes are then tightly integrated so that necessary supplies and support can be called upon across large areas or from Salt Lake. So in a large scale emergency, all the connections are in place to account for as many people as possible and to provide for them. That is what you saw in NOLO. It has also worked in the Grande Teton Dam failure, and in several hurricane and volcano events in Mexico and Central/South America, as well as numerous lessor emergencies.

From Lori :-): Arming the Left: Is the time now? --by Charles Southwell:
As long as we pose no REAL threat to the powers-that-be, to what is shaping up into a dictatorship, we will continue to be ignored. Right now, we are ignored because we present no organized power to fight this onslaught of anti-democratic, totalitarian government that we are up against.
It will take time, but it's time to get more left-leaning liberals and outright leftists to at least POSE a threat, by getting organized and getting ARMED. It's time to get well past this liberal phobia and taboo about weapons and force. After all, our liberalism was won with a REVOLUTIONARY WAR! They used real guns in that war. The French Revolution was also a WAR and they used real weapons there too.

ICH articles from Angela: A Torturous Silence, by Ray McGovern: Where do American religious leaders stand on torture? Their deafening silence evokes memories of the unconscionable behavior of German church leaders in the 1930s and early 1940s.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article10410.htm U.S. Assassinates Puerto Rican Independence Figure: The nationalist leader was struck by a single bullet from a sharpshooter’s high-powered rifle. While he suffered no wound to any vital organ, he was left to bleed to death on the floor of his home as FBI agents refused to allow Puerto Rican authorities and emergency medical teams anywhere near the house, maintaining a militarized perimeter for 24 hours.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article10405.htm If it's freedom and success 'They' hate, why aren't 'They' attacking
Norway? Americans like to think that terrorists attack them because they are
rich, free, and number one. Not true.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article10415.htm The Silent Coup: The grease that lubricates this new model of government is greed; the fuel that feeds it is money. Lots of it. And overwhelmingly, the
hard-line, right-wing conservative branch of the Republican Party are both its
architect, and its beneficiary.

From "Amy needs to go to Burning Man": This episode badly needs to be written! Someone needs to find a publisher who will give poor sweet Mary Straitwell
mstraitwell@yahoo.com a big cash advance so that next Labor Day she can go to Burning Man in the Nevada desert if she is still allowed to travel without a national ID card and/or a star sewn to her coat indicating that she is a Liberal.

I have become shocked and amazed lately at how bitter and cynical and mean my e-mails are becoming -- but ever since Bush, Rove, Rumsfeld and Cheney bombed several defenseless countries into rubble, failed to protect my country on 9-11, scalped our treasury and blatantly STOLE two national elections, I've just not been the same. I WANT to be a kind and loving and caring person but the example being set for me by America's "leaders" has precluded that from happening. My apologies.
In defense of my country, I must fight fire with fire. Those people in the White House are NASTY.

If you like getting my outside-the-box essays but your in-box is too full and you need a break, that's okay. Just e-mail me, say "Dear Jane" on the subject line and I will take you off my list. Thanks.
And if you get more than one copy of this, blame it on my jankity old computer!
