Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Local police are investigating an explosion that occurred within 100 yards of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday evening and killed one person.

At this point, authorities are saying that a person blew themself up in a suicide bombing that happened just outside the stadium.

The blast happened just prior to halftime of the Oklahoma-Kansas State football game, which the Sooners won 43-21.

"We are apparently dealing with an individual suicide which is under full investigation," said Oklahoma president David L. Boren. "At no time was anyone in the stadium in danger. Law enforcement officials and bomb experts on site were activated in the area immediately.

"Prior to the game, the entire stadium was swept by the expert bomb teams with the help of dogs. Passouts were suspended during halftime for security reasons in order to enhance safety for the fans. A second device which was found during the initial search has been detonated."

The explosion was heard inside the stadium, but there was no mention of what happened over the stadium public address system. The PA announcer, however, did instruct fans to avoid the area when exiting the game.
