URI DOWBENKO Bush Lackey Robert Novak Denies 'Planned Leak' Wed Oct 1 19:05:22 2003 64.140.158.149 Bush Lackey Robert Novak Denies 'Planned Leak' by URI DOWBENKO http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/channel.cfm?channelid=97&contentid=948 Bush Lackey Robert Novak Denies 'Planned Leak' No mea culpa for so-called pundit Robert Novak. Planting leaks instead of WMD's, Robert Novak, the Bush Cabal's journo-lackey, defended himself for outing Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, as a covert CIA agent, in his column "The CIA Leak." Like Phil Agee, the CIA's own disgruntled spook from the 1970s, Novak has no apologies for being a Bushonian (or is it Karl Rove-ian?) leaker. He writes, "I regret that I referred to her in my column as an 'operative,' a word I have lavished on hack politicians for more than 40 years." Novak's own brand of hack journalism may turn out to be the Bush Cabal's very own Watergate, a scandal with international and far-reaching implications. (Or maybe not? It's still too early to see if this story has legs.) Despite the fact that political analyst Al Martin's article The Ambassador Wilson Affair:The End of Karl Rove? was first published on Al Martin Raw. http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/channel.cfm?channelid=2&contentid=933 com: Political, Economic, and Financial Intelligence website. on Sept. 2, the Washington Post story, 27 days later, put it on the map. In an above-the-fold, front-page story linking Wilson, Plame, Rove and Novak, the Post editors were clearly testing the waters and gauging the vulnerability of the Bush Cabal and its perception of being bullet-proof in the mainstream media. Why was the Washington Post story "Bush Administration Is Focus of Inquiry" (Sept 28) even published? Was it because of the WSJ/ NBC poll, which reported that Bush support had slipped below 50% for the first time since the Bush Cheney-Regime was selected, I mean, elected? Novak's disingenuous piece belies the fact that he must have known that his column could be construed as retaliation against Wilson for publicly denying Bush Cabal spin-lies about uranium being sent to Saddam Hussein. It was, after all, one of the most repeated Bushonian spin-lies used as a pretense for the US Invasion and Occupation of Iraq II. Outing a covert intelligence agent, by the way, is a felony under the National Agents' Identity Act and the Unauthorized Release of Classified Information Act. The act passed in 1982, imposes maximum penalties of 10 years in prison and $50,000 in fines for unauthorized disclosure by government employees with access to classified information. (Will Karl Rove or Robert Novak be doing prison time? Or will another scapegoat be found just in time?) Of course, mainstream media has been ominously quiet in this era of Republican-controlled Corporate Journalism, acting as a mouthpiece for the Bush Cabal, especially promoting the Phony War on Terrorism and its egregious assault on the civil rights and liberties of the American people. In fact, the so-called Fifth Estate has become an M&A (Merger and Acquisition) of the government, so well integrated, that it has, in many cases, become literally "Government-Media." Novak writes, "To protect my own integrity and credibility, I would like to stress three points." As if he has any integrity or credibility to worry about. But, ah, self-perception is very important when you're a spinmeister in DC. 'First, I did not receive a planned leak." Note his careful use of words. Does "planned" mean he didn't meet with Karl Rove for breakfast, but ran into him in the men's room? Or does it mean he, Robert Novak, didn't mean for it to be perceived as "planned" when he wrote it on behalf of his Bush Cabal Pals? "Second, the CIA never warned me that the disclosure of Wilson's wife working at the agency would endanger her or anybody else." Is he a CIA shill as well as a Bush Cabal Shill? They didn't warn him? As if it's their job to warn him? "Third, it was not much of a secret." What's not a secret is the cozy quid pro quo relationship that Novak enjoys with the Bush Cabal and his well-known history of unlawful collaboration with Republican Regimes. Now, even though he has what he believes is a loophole, Robert Novak has reportedly hired an attorney. Will Bob Novak be charged with endangering national security?
