New Orleans. Sin City. A city where the party never ends. The party
ended on August 29, 2005. Hurricane Katrina was the uninvited party
crasher. New Orleans had a reputation for unbrideled decadence,
especially at Mardi Gras, a festival held each year where widespread
drug use, drunkeness, and sexual immorality on a grand scale is
celebrated with people dressing up in satanic costumes, and
publically exibiting behaviour that any decent person would not
practice in the privacy of their own bedrooms, much less on city
streets. It was a city built on a swamp, both morally and physically,
and now it's gone. Watching the mayor of New Orleans and the governor
of Louisiana deal with this was an eye opening experience. They were
obviously in over their head, both literally and politically. You
could see how the chosen representitives of the Big Brother
government were totally powerless when faced with the harsh reality
of all this.

To hear them admit that an American city of 4 million had been
transformed into an unlivable wasteland overnight, with virtually no
hope for the future, should be a huge wake up call for everyone. This
one storm in the end probably will have caused more physical and
economic devastation to America than if a nuclear bomb had been
detonated in any major American city. There have been other major
storms, especially in recent years, but never anything like this.
That there is a spiritual tie in to all of this should be clear to
any true Christian. Not that all the people suffering were bad
people. I'm sure there are many decent people among them. But
something is missing in America in 2005, and it seems the masses who
lost everything in hurricane Katrina are just the latest victims in
this time we are living in. On 9-11 America could blame it on
terrorists. But when something like this happens you have to look a
little deeper, and that makes people uncomfortable.

If the U.S government spends any money trying to bring New Orleans
back, it would be a huge waste of time, and an even greater waste of
money. It's a strategic and logistical nightmare. Here you have a
city that is below sea level, and is actually sinking! No matter how
much work they put into reconstructing the levees, they would only be
putting off the inevitable. It's a city that never should have been
built in the first place, and the decadence that took place there
since it's inception has only tainted the land that the city stood
on. When God wiped out the city of Sodom He commanded Lot to leave,
and get as far away from it as possible, and not even look back when
leaving, He did it because all of the people of that city had become
grossly decadent and corrupt. New Orleans was a warning for these
last days. With homosexual marriage, widespread abortion, incredible
corporate greed and political corruption all becoming more
commonplace and acceptable all around the world, and especially here
in America, It's a warning we had better take seriously.
