"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and tooth for a tooth
But I say unto you, That you resist not evil."
Matthew, 5:37

The Old was based on resisting evil, which is why the apostle Paul called the Old Covenant "the ministration of death." There is no path to salvation. The motivation of life is fear of God, fear of God's wrath and God's punishment, and fighting evil.
Not doing what you should not do.

The new covenant is what the apostle Paul calls "the ministry of reconciliation" because the force of loving God and loving others as ourself brings the heart of God to the center of this world.
Acting on faith.

You cannot worship God and mammon. You either choose the ministry of death or the ministry of reconciliation.

Just recall the Lord's Prayer: "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." This only partly happens in the old covenant once every fifty years at a jubilee.

But for the new covenant of Jesus Christ this happens daily. If you have no intention of forgiving debts and trespasses, then you are most definitely not aligned with Christ.

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets."
Matthew, 7:12

This is the new covenant in a nutshell. This is in direct opposition to the old covenant in which people treat others the way they themselves have been treated.

The old covenant is based on reacting to others.

The new covenant is based on creation, drawing from God and not from other people.

Christ gave us two commandments:
Love God.
Love others as yourself.

This is the fulfilling of all the law, psalms, and prophecies.

If you have no intention of loving God or others as yourself then you are not following Christ.

You don't put new cloth onto an old garment.
Neither do you put new wine on old bottles.
This is from Matthew 9:16-17 and it is a direct reference to the old and new covenants.
Check also Mark, 2:22
Luke 5:37

"For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of no effect."
Romans, 4:14

Followers of Christ are held to a much higher standard than the law. We are held to concsience through faith.

And faith works through love, my friends. Galatians, 5:6

"Love worketh no ill to his neighbor, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."
Romans, 13:10

"Be not overcome of evil. But overcome evil with good."
Romans, 12:21

1 Corinthians chapter 13. It gets sentimentalised at weddings but is the heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Let all your things be done with love."
1 Corinthians, 16:14

"The sting of death is sin. and the strength of sin is the law."
1 Corinthians, 15:56

"Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature."
2 Corin, 5:17

"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law."
Gal. 3:13

"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ."
Gal. 2:16

"...for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."
Gal. 2:21

"For as many as are under the works of the law are under the curse ... But that no mam is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith."
Galatians, 3: 10 - 12

"For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature."
Gal. 6:15

" are complete in him [Jesus Christ] which is the head of all principalities and power."
Colossians, 2:10

Jesus is Lord. Jesus is Lord of your nation, your household, your life, your breath.

The heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ is not obedience to the law (which delivers death) but love in which we have everlasting life.

" ...he hath quickened us together, having forgiven you all tespasses,
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross."
Colossians, 2: 13- 14

Christianity has never been tried on this planet in any major way. Most people who call themselves Christians follow after the Roman god Mithras.

So be it. Give Christ a try.

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another ... By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
John, 13:34-35

The choice is always there. The choice is always yours.

Peace and blessings to all.
