Heartland Institute Plans Forum and Benefit Dinner in Chicago on September 23, 2004


The Heartland Institute, a 20-year-old national nonprofit organization headquartered in Chicago, will host on Thursday, September 23, a day-long conference addressing education, environment, health care, legal reform, technology, and taxes.

Heartland's Emerging Issues Forum will be followed by the group's Twentieth Anniversary Benefit Dinner, featuring among CNN's Robert Novak and the Wall Street Journal's John Fund.


Emerging Issues Forum

The Heartland Emerging Issues Forum will feature panel presentations by Heartland senior fellows and managing editors along with public policy experts from the leading free-market think tanks and advocacy groups in the country. The focus is on anticipating issues and ideas that will play major roles in public policy debates in 2005 and beyond. Among the event's speakers:

The forum will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (registration at 9:30 a.m.) at the Art Institute of Chicago on Michigan Avenue. A buffet luncheon will be served. Heartland has arranged for complimentary shuttle service in vintage Chicago Trolleys to the Chicago Hilton Hotel, where the Twentieth Anniversary Benefit dinner will take place, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Twentieth Anniversary Benefit Dinner

Following the Emerging Issues Forum, Heartland will host its Twentieth Anniversary Benefit Dinner, celebrating two decades of helping to build social movements in support of ideas that empower people. Heartland's anniversary dinners have become one of the country's biggest annual celebrations of freedom; attendance of more than 500 is expected. This year's keynote speaker, Robert Novak, is one of the country's most distinguished, controversial, and entertaining journalists.
