Last week our ‘supposedly’ well informed Foreign Minister
Alexander Downer stated in public that Israel was “not
deliberately targeting civilians” in Lebanon, when it was
blatantly clear to the world that they were.
I wonder what pearls of wisdom Alexander Downer has for the
Australian public now in view of the massacre at Qana ?
No doubt he will have spouted the ‘global leaders’
pre-determined line of “how dreadfully sorry he is” for the
accidental death of those Lebanese including the 27 children
killed.
Australia, courtesy of the Howard Government has betrayed all
Australians by supporting Israel’s heavy handed aggression and
failing to demand a ceasefire.
It now appears that Israel is not winning against Hezbollah and
are themselves taking casualties. Consequently there suddenly
seems to be a mad scurry of diplomatic activity by those who had
previously deliberately sat back and done nothing in order to
allow Israel to continue its war crimes activities unhindered.
In a move that visibly annoyed Condaleeza Rice the outraged
Lebanese Prime Minister, fed up with the failure of the United
Nations and all the one sided rhetoric from the USA and Israel
told US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice not to bother coming
to Beirut and that Lebanon required an unconditional ceasefire.
