FEBRUARY 2006:
1st rough cut is complete. We are looking good people. This is our year. We will be out before the 2006 mid-terms. Thanks again to all the activists and citizens who are pushing every day on this issue. Without your support and encouragement this film would have not been possible to make. It is our sincere intention that our film will be of some good assistance to you all. And we can't wait for you to see it.
OCTOBER 2005:
Recently completed additional shoots in Washington DC, New York, Ohio, Florida, and California. Editing on the 90 minute feature version moves into high gear.
January 13, 2005:
Our cameras rolled on the OHIO rally on January 3rd and in DC on January 6th. We were very glad to have passed on information useful to Barbara Boxer before her decision to join the objection to the electoral votes from OHIO. Everyone who has passed on an email about voting problems in this country should be very proud. On January 7th the progressive community came together and finally decided to make election reform a central part of their political agenda.
The producers of Votergate have always seen the problems with electronic voting as the latest example of an election system that needs a full return to transparency and accountability. We expect to be raising more funds soon to bring you a feature film that will help every citizen reclaim their election process as their own.
DECEMBER 20th-24th:
* We interviewed suspended and then retired Elections Director Paula Hicks-Hudson about the allegations of machine tampering by Diebold in Lucas County / Toledo OHIO.
* We met with organizers of local communities opposed to the use of electronic voting without paper ballots and paper audit tails.
* We met and interviewed the lawyers in OHIO working, not for political parties, but for citizens and communities. These people are taking action to hold our elected officials accountable to provide Americans with an accountable voting system.
NOVEMBER 2004: We spent two weeks in FLORIDA following Bev Harris and Black Box Voting as they investigated voting irregularities in FLORIDA.
ELECTION DAY - NOVEMBER 2nd 2004: we shot in Seattle WA and in Snohomish county WA. Snohomish County auditor Bob Terwilliger gave us a tour of their Sequoia voting machines. After the election these machines came to be at the center of controversy in the contested Governor's race. The first ballot count showed Dino Rossi winning by just 261 votes. A machine recount had Rossi winning by 42 votes. Then on December 23rd, 2004, a hand recount gave the victory to his opponent Christine Gregoire by 130 votes.
