GOP Rivals Embrace Unproven Iraq-9/11 Tie
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052807A.shtml
In defending the Iraq war, leading Republican
presidential contenders are increasingly echoing words
and phrases used by President Bush in the run-up to the
war, reinforcing the misleading impression that Iraq was
responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks.

in central Baghdad on Monday, killing at least 21 people
and damaging a shrine revered by Sunnis and Shiites
alike, police and hospital officials said.
As Allies Turn Foe, Disillusion Rises in Some GIs
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052807C.shtml
Staff Sgt. David Safstrom does not regret his previous
tours in Iraq - not even a difficult second stint, when
two comrades died while trying to capture insurgents.
But now, on his third deployment in Iraq, he is no
longer a believer in the mission. His views are echoed
by most of his fellow soldiers in Delta Company.
Paul Krugman | Trust and Betrayal
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052807D.shtml
"Future historians will shake their heads over how
easily America was misled into war. The warning signs,
the indications that we had a rogue administration
determined to use 9/11 as an excuse for war, were there,
for those willing to see them, right from the beginning
- even before Mr. Bush began explicitly pushing for war
with Iraq," writes Paul Krugman.
Iraq Intelligence Horror Stories Shouldn't Be Old News
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052807E.shtml
Hearing horror stories about the manipulation of Iraq
intelligence is like watching "The Exorcist" again and
again: Each time, you see something new and laugh at the
parts that used to make your hair go up straight.
The Sacramento Bee | Assault on Elections Needs Full
Airing
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052807F.shtml
The Sacramento Bee writes: " ... it seems more and more
apparent that behind the US attorney scandal is a
blatant effort of the Justice Department to tamper with
the US election process, trumping up voter fraud as an
issue to intimidate voters and suppress voting in the
United States. This is a serious matter calling for
investigation by an outside special counsel."
Blackwater Lawsuit Moves Out of Court
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052807G.shtml
After years of high-stakes legal wrangling, a lawsuit
stemming from the gruesome deaths of four US contractors
in Iraq is moving behind closed doors, in an action seen
as an important precedent for the booming private
security industry. The suit, for wrongful death and
fraud, was filed in January 2005 against Blackwater
Security Consulting, one of scores of companies now
fielding close to 130,000 civilians who work alongside
the US military in Iraq.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052707A.shtml
Bill Moyers writes: "For all the words Maxine Hong
Kingston has poured onto the page from her own life and
mind, for the many years Maxine Hong Kingston has been
coaxing words from others. In 1993 she put out a call to
veterans to join her in workshops devoted to turning
their experiences into poems, novels, and essays. Here
in the hills of Northern California, over 500
veterans...from every war since World War II have taken
part, and some of their finest work has now been
published in this book, 'Veterans of War; Veterans of
Peace.' For many of them it has been a life-changing,
even life-saving, experience."
VIDEO | Keith Olbermann: The Entire Government Has
Failed Us on Iraq
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/052407A.shtml
Keith Olbermann presents a special comment on betrayal
saying, "For the president - and the majority leaders
and candidates and rank-and-file congressmen and
senators of either party - there is only blame for this
shameful and bi-partisan betrayal."
