Whilst I think that the appearance of the video came at a very fortuitous
time, the 'evidence' offered in all the posts here is circumstantial at best.
1. The claim that the video was uploaded from London is without foundation. I
think my site was amongst the first to report that the al-ansar domain was
held in London (by an individual whyo used the Arab News address in High
Holborn), this by itself does not prove anything at all. Unless a log can be
produced showing the file transfer, citing the domain registration proves
nothing about where the video was uploaded from.
2. The plastic chair. These garden chairs are sold the world over.
3. Arabs are not pudgy? Talk about stereotyping!
4. Bullet proof vests? This proves nothing.
5. The orange jump suit. This is one piece of 'evidence' that does lend
credence to where Berg had been held but again, doesn't prove that the video
is a fake.
6. The location. The colour of the wall being apparently the same as that of
Abu Ghraib prison is again pure speculation.
7. The edited video tape. Unfortunately, the edited tape doesn't actually show
the actual death, so nothing can be deduced from it.
8. The lack of blood. This section could have been edited out or, could mean
that he was already dead or murdered by some other means.
9. The colour of the five 'terrorists' skins. The quality of the tape is so
poor, that nothing can be determined with any certainty.
10. The identities. It's impossible to say who they are, that's why they're
completely covered.
The most important info concerns Berg's location prior to his death. It has
been ascertained that he was at a hotel in Baghdad from around April 6-10.
Before that, it seems he was most definately in US custody after having been
detained by Iraqi police, where he was visited by the FBI three times.
The big question is: where was he between April 6 and May 8 and why did the US
military lie about his detention and who held him custody?
In other words, there are most definately questions that need to be answered,
but so far, we have no 'smoking gun'.
