Yes, I am absolutely sure. Here is why. It was OU cops who tipped me off that Berg had been arrested. They were sure it was the same guy. They had six contacts with him in the spring of 2000. This is what prompted me to go to the court clerk and get the record. The court record says his middle name was Evan and describes him as a white male, born April 2, 1978. That would make him 26 years old. That is exactly how old the Nick Berg was we have been reading about.

How many Nicholas E. Berg's can there be in this world, who were born at that time? From news reports we know that the one reportedly murdered in Iraq had the middle initial E. It has been reported that he attended OU in the fall of '99.

The OU student directory has the name Nick E. Berg for that period. The faculty/staff directory has the same name for 2000-2001. The OU cops knew he had been an employee, and they obviously knew they had arrested him, and recognized his photo. How much more sure can I be?

Here is a TV news report about Berg working for OU. Unlike my information, it does not specify the fact that he was working there in academic year 2000-2001.
