Advance Praise for What God Wants:

"....mind-opening, life-altering insights in a book so vital, so urgent in its timing, and so on the nose with its provocative assertions, that I was blown away by its ferociousness... Here is a message of love not bound by any one religion, but transcendent of them all. A message that will unite us, not divide us. Never have we needed this book more."

Spiritual Issues
Author Neale Donald Walsch returned to the show to share his bold approach to the subject of religion. His popular book series, he explained, was fueled by his writing questions to God, whom he heard answering his queries. We have been trained to think that it's blasphemous to speak with God, yet this is an innate ability humans have, he said.

The issue is not where did God come from, said Walsch, but rather what is going on now. Most importantly, do we have the right relationship with one another? he asked. The end of life as we know it could be right around the corner, due to faulty belief structures, Walsch warned. "Humanity's problems are not political or economic," but spiritual in nature, he continued.

He characterized humanity's dilemma as a struggle between old and new ways of thought. We need to change the fundamental belief of "separation theology"--- the idea that we are separate from each other, he suggested. Walsch revealed that the last book in his series, to be called Dying with God, will be published in 2006 and will deal with the afterlife.

The take over has begun
Okay, everyone, it has begun. The Process has begun in earnest.

There has been talk for years now that the political conservatives and religious fundamentalists have an agenda larger than is immediately apparent, and that what they really want is to take over every aspect of our society, scrapping the new emerging values of tolerance, unity, and inclusivity in favor of the desperately flawed and failed social systems of intolerance, separation, and exclusivity that have kept the world at the brink of self destruction for thousands of years.

That is not all just a lot of talk. If you think so, you had better think again.

Yesterday the school board in the West Texas town of Odessa voted unanimously to add a Bible class to its high school curriculum.

You heard that right. I said that yesterday the Odessa, Texas school board voted to put a Bible class in public schools.

What's more, hundreds of people, most of them supporters of the proposal, packed the board meeting Tuesday night. More than 6,000 Odessa residents had signed a petition supporting the class.

The idea for such an astonishing curriculum addition came to the board in March from Mike Johnson, a representative of the Greensboro, N.C.-based National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools. He assured the school board that course work designed by that organization is not about proselytizing or preaching. It is about geography and history.

Students would learn about the geography of the Middle East and about the influence of the Bible on history and culture.

What is fascinating about all this is that it is not an isolated incident. In fact, the website of the National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools says its curriculum has received backing in 292 school districts in 35 states.

And so, we are at the crossroad. This is the time of choosing, the time of deciding what God wants. We have placed former Cardinal Ratzinger on the papal throne, we have placed Paul Wolfowitz at the head of the World Bank, and we have placed the Bible in our public schools.

There are those in our world who do not feel to be in harmony with these developments, nor do they resonate with the fundamentalist/conservative agenda, but not to worry. They will be Left Behind, and we won't have to deal with them anymore. Those of us who are in the right (or is that, ON the right?) are guaranteed a place at the right hand of God Almighty at the time of the Tribulation---and that time is at hand.

We needn't be concerned, then, about any of this. God is soon enough going to get What God Wants.
