Back in late 2001 and early 2002 when the nation had gone into a kind of post-9/11 PTSD, and the "patriotic paranoia" was at its height, I had a hard time finding an outlet for my writing. Why? Because I, along with only a handful of other writers, did not think that Bush standing next to the pile of WTC rubble made him an "instant real president." Bob Fertik at Democrats.com supported my work, but was under intensive heat by subscribers to avoid controversy at that time. So I took my stuff to Unknown News, where Helen and Harry Highwater were bravely continuing to speak out at their site. Only a handful of sites showed this kind of courage - hate mail and death threats be damned! The Emperor's Clothes, Bushwatch, and one or two others were the only voices of questioning and dissent I saw for many, many weeks here in the US.

It was in April, 2002 that my misgivings about 9/11 and Bush's role in the tragedy started to intensify. I just could SMELL that there was something rotten there. By early May, I had started on Smoking Gun: The 9/11 Evidence that May Hang G. W. Bush. It may sound hokey or melodramatic...but the stuff came to me in a sort of "lightning bolt" - the thoughts and links just seemed to pour out -I would sit down to work on the piece at, say 5:00 pm and before I knew it, it would be 2:00 am and I'd be so stiff I could hardly move. It felt like a story that WANTED to be told, one that had a life of its own.

The strangest segment, though, was the section on John O'Neill, the FBI agent who tried to warn Bush about Bin Laden and was ignored. O'Neill died in the second WTC tower trying to help people escape. I ran across an article about him somewhere on line in my searches...thought to myself "That seems important, somehow." Then tucked the note aside. That night, I dreamed about O'Neill, though I had never seen a photo of him. He was dark-haired, round-faced, and dressed in a red suit (symbolic, no doubt of "warning" as the dream experts would say). He didn't say anything but just looked at me with a very urgent, almost pleading look.

The next day, I dug into the story. When I found a photo of him, I was stunned: it WAS the man in my dream! As I worked through that day and into the night on his story, I had the strongest feeling he was closeby - looking over my shoulder as it were. When I finally finished, I could "hear" him say in my mind: "Good work, kid - you told the truth!"

Later, I had a dream in which I saw him again and he said something about the 18th floor and to look for the man who wore a ring with a square shaped face or setting. Maybe that means something, maybe not...but it's worth passing on.

Anyway, Unknown News was the first to run Smoking Gun - all 10,000 or so words of it! It was then that Bob Fertik decided to take a chance and run the piece at Democrats.com, too. It took a lot of guts on his part because he was constantly under pressure from the then-woossy Democrats to be "politically correct" (whatever the hell that means anymore!!) He kept it running as long as he could - then had to yield to pressure. But he got it out there for a while. Then NewsInsider picked it up and so did many sites around the world. It was translated into at least five languages that I know of.

Although it is without doubt the most widely read of everything I have written, you will find when you go to google and put in "Cheryl Seal" or even "Smoking Gun: The 9/11 Evidence that may Hang G. W. Bush" in quotations that few links to the article come up. There is no doubt that the "powers that be{" have tried to make it very hard to find.

Now with the 9/11 commission hearings going, the article has been rediscovered and copies have even been sent to the commission!

This AM as I listened to Condi Rice lie through here teeth to the American people and the commission, I swore I felt John O'Neill's restless spirit again - THEY ARE LYING! Is what I know he'd say. Let's hope that someday justice is served and John and the spirits of the 3,000 who died on 9/11 can at last rest easy.
