New York City police officials say former Enron Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling has been detained after reports of erratic behavior in downtown New York.

Police officials say Mr. Skilling was picked up early Friday after reports that he was in two bars, accosting people and accusing them of being agents for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Police say Mr. Skilling was taken to a hospital for observation and released later Friday. They say he was not charged with any crime.

Mr. Skilling is facing fraud charges in connection with the financial collapse of energy company Enron in 2001.
