Dear Commission Members:

I observe from the news account at Yahoo that Condoleeza Rice has agreed to testify under oath in public.

I also see that part of the agreement is that Bush and Cheney will be able to testify privately. I assume this means that they will NOT be under oath.

In his testimony of 3/24/04, Tenet did not address the issue of the contents of the August 6, 2001, report. For this I searched his testimony in the sections entitled WARNING and OUR WARNINGS WERE BEING HEARD. He only stated that in the summer of 2001 he advised of "multiple spectacular attacks." He says that in August 2001 he warned about bin Laden's desire to conduct attacks in the US homeland.

Rice has told news media that, in the August 6 report, he advised that hijacking of aircraft was on Bin Laden's mind, but he did not mention suicide crashes. His advice led to the expectation that the hijacked aircraft would be landed for negotiation over hostages.

Was Rice telling the truth about this specific issue? Now how are you going to discover whether Rice lies to you about the contents of the August 6 memo? Bush and Cheney can lie to cover for her !

I encourage you to require Tenet's appearance again and under oath ask him to describe the specific contents of the report of August 6, 2001. There must be a control against the contingency of Rice lying to you or evading questions about this.
