Yassin, according to reports in the Israeli media, had tried to broker a substantial (30-month) cease fire between the Israelis and Hamas before his death. He also said his organization was NOT attacking the Israelis because they were Jews. "I would attack my own cousin if he stole my land," Yassin is quoted as saying.
