Now what is the message there? The message is that there are no "knowns.("bad intelligence) There are things we know that we know (common knowledge) There are known unknowns (suspicions) That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know (whitehouse spin)
But there are also unknown unknowns (we're not prepared to comment on that today, whatever you heard is probably true but don't print that!)
There are things we don't know we don't know( 9/11) So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together More guessing)
and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns
here is what i think rumsfeld is saying here...
terrorism is a known known, antiterrorism is the known unknown) And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.)
The first unknown is what the fuck are we doing in the muddle east? The second unknown is how the fuck do we get out of the muddle East?
All these things will remain unknown until we know more about stuff we don't have a fucking clue about, until then will remain unknown 'til more is known about the unknown knowns and the unknown unknowns and the known knowns.
There I think I know what Donald Rumsfeld said! Phew!
