Casey Nethercott, the owner of the Arizona ranch where Operation Thunderbird is ongoing, was thrown into jail on Monday 1 March 2004 on the authority of nothing more than the Governor's signature alone. His civil rights have been stripped, and he is being held without bond.

We have discovered that the "reason" the Pima County Jail has been returning everyone's donations and letters to Casey is that they don't allow mail with "stick-on" type stamps on the envelope.

[ If that doesn't show that Arizona is now ruled by a rogue prison system and government - nothing does! ]

To get donations and letters to Casey, we have to get those envelopes from the Post Office with the stamps already printed on the envelope paper, or we have to get our own envelopes "meter stamped". As long as there is not a stick-on type stamp on the envelope, they are supposed to let it through.

Anyone can send cards, letters, and words of encouragement to Casey directly at:

Casey Nethercott
Housing Unit 2A19
PO Box 951
Tucson AZ
85702

If everyone we know would send just one letter to Casey, it would lift his spirits tremendously. If his jailers don't withold those as well.

Monetary donations to Casey in jail are vital to keeping him alive. Casey is insulin-dependent. Without money for his "Canteen Fund", he will not be able to buy packaged food from the jail store that is NOT spiked with sugar, which his Pima County jailers will no doubt try to do.

Express your outrage at the way Casey is being inhumanely jailed:

Feds Launch Plan to Patrol Arizona Border

ARTHUR H. ROTSTEIN

Associated Press

TUCSON, Ariz. - Unmanned aerial surveillance drones, more Border Patrol agents and expanded detention facilities are part of a federal plan announced Tuesday to help staunch the flow of illegal immigrants across the Mexico-Arizona border.

The Department of Homeland Security launched the Arizona Border Control Initiative "to create a safer and more secure Arizona," said Asa Hutchinson, the department's undersecretary for border security.

Forty percent of the nation's illegal immigrants come through the Arizona border, he said.

The initiative is expected to cost more than $10 million and run through September. Starting in June, two surveillance drones will be used over remote desert areas.

David Aguilar, chief of the Border Patrol's Tucson sector, said the drones partly replace the need for agents on the ground or in helicopters to go to a remote sensor site to see what has set it off.

The initiative will add 200 to 400 Border Patrol agents to the 1,800 in the Tucson sector, which encompasses most of Arizona's border.

Four helicopters also will be added, giving the sector a fleet of 15, and $1 million will go toward new motion sensors.

Federal authorities also plan to expand a detention facility in Florence using seven air-conditioned tents costing about $2 million. Immigrants are held for processing before being returned to their home countries unless they volunteer to go home.
