Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades' letter on Spain attack

La Voz de Aztlan has published the full text of the
letter received from the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades
concerning the commuter train bombings in Madrid
yesterday morning. The letter written in the Spanish
language and dated Thursday March 11, 2004 can be
accessed at
http://www.aztlan.net/carta_operacion_madrid.htm

A copy of the letter was also received by a Palestinian
news service in London and has not been authenticated
as being genuine. The Spanish government believes
presently that the attack on the Madrid commuter trains
were committed by the Basque separatist organization
ETA but currently there are some Spanish media reports
saying that ETA has denied any involvement. Two other
theories have emerged concerning who may be responsible
for the attacks. The first is that the attacks were a
combined ETA and Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades operation.
The other theory is that certain other groups that stand
to benefit from the attacks are to blame. Among these
groups, the Israeli MOSSAD has been mentioned.

Some of the most significant points concerning the
supposed letter from the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades
is that they name and also take credit for other attacks
and in addition warn of a catastrophic one they named
"The Winds of the Black Death" which is in its final
phases of planning. The letter also gives instructions
to two of their groups, the Bilal ibn Rabah and the
Abu Ali al Harfi Squadrons.
