Your letter was forwarded to me by several people, and I am glad to know that you are now sprung. How many others of you are now free? I have talked a few times in recent years with Dan Petersen in Forrest City, Ark. and believe his release date is in '09.

I was delighted, of course, that you found my book to be "closest to the truth" but then disappointed that you accuse me of a fabrication.

Actually, I don't remember ever claiming that I talked to "all 23 Freemen," and I wish you would tell me on what page you found it. On page four, I say I interviewed "several" on June 22-23rd, which was a total of six, as I remember. Earlier I had spoken with Leroy and Dan a couple of times in person and several times on the phone from the Freedom Center, which makes a grand total of eight Freemen interviewed. (As you know, the federal-butt kissing local constablary did not make it easy for us to visit.) I agree with you that you and I did not speak, but I remember seeing you in court.

This is the truth and all that I ever remember making claim to -- on radio, in the book, or anywhere else. If the book says 23 anywhere, it is a mistake, and I would like to know the precise page number and sentence context, because I do not know to what you are referring.

Randy & Kevin et al. pressed me all summer to get the book out in a hurry, which I did, because they felt it would help all of you if the public could get a look from the other side before a jury was struck. (However, as you well know, when the government owns the propaganda machine, it is darn near impossible to overcome its lies in the minds of the people.) Many of the incidents prior to my arrival were gleaned from reading old newspapers and/or talking with Randy and Kevin. I later found some of this to be slightly off target because that's what happens when you get facts second or third or fourth hand. However, I do not consider either man to be a liar but rather mistaken.

Over the course of the next two years, I heard new things, read new facts in letters from Leroy and phone conversations with Dan that would have been very beneficial in the already published book, but that seems to be the way it always goes.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will write your story of the Freeman experiences and atrocities that you briefly mention here.
