When I was an independent "owner-operator" many years ago, I proposed a similar thing, but you couldn't get enough people to agree to do it. The union drivers wanted the independents to support their strikes, but they wouldn't support ours.

The proposal was simple - on this certain date @ midnight, every truck in the country pull over & stop. Lock it up & go home if you're not already there. Nothing moves - period. Until a list of grievances is dealt with. Guys financed to their eyeballs & company drivers were worried about losing their financed stuff or jobs, but I said think about it - how long would a strike like that have to last?

A refrigerated trailer can only sit for 5 hours without the reefer running before the food inside goes bad & within a matter of days the store shelves would be empty, the gas stations dry & the public howling give them whatever they want. The general public doesn't realize how much moves by truck - they all quit moving for just 2 days & the public would learn real quick.

But, as you say, Big Al, you can't get enough people to agree to do something like that & we tried in a community of people who are more closely-knit than the general public is.

And no you can't disconnect your odometer because they will computer chip all cars, trucks etc., that means ALL cars no matter how old they are, and global tracking will figure the miles you drive and then a tax will be placed on you

. Why? Because to many people are going to gas saving cars and hybrids and government is losing tax on gas because people are using less. Just what the government pushed for in the first place. But again slaves are unaware they they are unaware they are slaves and will just keep on keeping on. So all you long haul drivers get it in the neck big time. Oh, I forgot, they jack up the rate when you are in rush hour traffic via satellite tracking pre programmed and they are testing it in Oregon right now and many states are watching just waiting to pounce on you. So forget about that 50 mile per gallon car , that will be no good when you pay a mileage tax.
