Funny, Rumsfeld's personal spyring has lots of the same players as Scoop
Jackson's personal spyring. Johnathan Pollard was their firebreak/sacrifice,
but the rest of the ring seems to have done real well.

WHEN Richard Perle (right), chairman of the Pentagon's defence policy board,
was working for Senator Scoop Jackson, he was investigated by the Justice
Department and found to have violated US policies relating to unlawful
transmission of sensitive classified US information to Israel.

That's odd. When Jonathan Pollard did much the same, passing vital U.S.
defense secrets to Israel, he was sent to jail for life. What has changed

Richard Perle
Perle has always managed to evade outright charges of espionage, although,
early in his career, working for Senator Henry "Scoop" Jackson, he was
investigated by the Justice Department and found to have violated US
policies relating to unlawful transmission of sensitive classified
information to Israel. Again, no charges were filed. Perle was subsequently
active in recruiting Israeli sympathizers into the DoD, such as Feith.

In 1981, while Caspar Weinberger was defence secretary, Perle appointed a
certain Stephen Bryen as assistant deputy secretary of defence with the
brief for trade security policy, an office with broad responsibility for
technology transfer and arms exports. Bryen, then working for the Senate
Armed Services Committee, had been caught a few years earlier while
delivering secret documents to an Israeli officer in the coffee shop of the
Madison Hotel.

apparently thinks that this scene would be so impressive to his Arizona
constituents that he put a picture of it on his website.

Richard Perle’s career started when at the age of 25, when he worked for
Sen. Henry (Scoop) Jackson under Richard Nixon. Later he worked for the
Israeli weapons firm Soltam.

Perle is often manipulating the media and was one of the first, who
supported the October Anthrax-Iraq theory.

He learned his main skills as assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan
administration. Richard Perle then became a representative of the so called
NeoCons.

Wolfowitz was one of the first of the Strauss-Bloom disciples to come to
Washington. Through Bloom, while completing his graduate studies at the
University of Chicago, Wolfowitz had been introduced to RAND Corporation
founder Albert Wohlstetter and to Paul Nitze, a leading arms control expert
who had served in most of the post-World War II governments in senior posts.
By the 1970s, Wolfowitz was working his way through the arms control
bureaucracy—and establishing his ties to other Straussians and Wohlstetter
protégés who had been planted on various Senate committee staffs. Among
Wolfowitz's collaborators during this period were Richard Perle, Steven
Bryen, and Elliott Abrams, who served on the Senate staffs of Henry "Scoop"

Wolfowitz in 1969, when the two were both sent by Wohlstetter to do a
research project for Senator Jackson.

Among the other Strauss disciples who are currently part of the ongoing
neo-con insurgency are: John Podhoretz, editorial page editor of Murdoch's
yellow tabloid, the New York Post, former editor of The Weekly Standard, and
offspring of first generation neo-cons Norman Podhoretz and Midge Decter;
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas; Attorney General John Ashcroft; I.
Lewis "Scooter" Libby, chief of staff and chief national security advisor to
Vice President Cheney, who was introduced to the world of Leo Strauss by his
own Yale University professor and mentor, Paul Wolfowitz; Pentagon
disinformation officer Abram Shulsky; Gary Schmitt, executive director of
the Kristol-led Project for the New American Century (PNAC); David Brook,
another editor of The Weekly Standard; Werner Dannhauser, a protégé of
Strauss, who left academia to assume the editorship of the flagship neo-con
magazine Commentary following the retirement of Norman Podhoretz; and Robert
Kagan, also of The Weekly Standard, and the son of leading Yale University
Straussian Donald Kagan.
