MILWAUKEE The employee of a Milwaukee-area company who sent a
curt e-mail reply to a U-S soldier has reportedly been fired.
Milwaukee T-V station W-T-M-J is reporting that Bargain
Suppliers of West Allis let the employee go within the last 24
hours.
At issue was an e-mail exchange from earlier this month.
Sergeant Jason Hess _ who's stationed in Taji, Iraq _ e-mailed
the company inquiring about floor mats.
The worker's two-line response says the company doesn't ship to
military addresses. Then it says that if Hess were sensible, he
and his troops would pull out of Iraq.
The reply has circulated on the Internet, angering military
supporters who are now calling for a boycott.
Company vice president Sajid Nasir says the firm's owner has
received threatening messages. West Allis police say they're
monitoring the situation but haven't received reports of any
crimes.
